I think he is talking about something like side scan sonar. something that can see the river bottom....

Good luck finding a scan of the Tina Bar area with that technology.
I know it doesn't exist, but since the technology has advanced greatly, my question was,, would it be worthwhile to scan it today with the new tech??
Well, who knows ... if you can justify the cost. Tosaw would do it in a heartbeat!

I would be right there on the boat with him if I could be!

So would a lot of other people... funny. You might be overrun with FBI guys wanting on!

I could get a hundred people to sign up for that gig! The question is, is there anything there after all this time and where exactly to look. You would be forced to start with widefield scans simply to develop targets ... but if you know some enterprising guys with time on their hands and the right gear/software GO FOR IT! I would do this in a second if I was 20 years old.
We had every intention of starting with bathymetry of this whole area early in the existence of the team. Before Tom was a member. One person at the USGS started a search of existing bathymetry ... then things came up ... then it went on the back burner intending to come back to it ... then Tom was asked in and we decided to let Tom run with his work ... we just never got back to the bathymetry.
But if you know some enterprising guys that are up to this job and the financial side works... turn them lose. You will probably have critics jump up saying its a total waste of time after all these years, but you don't know until you look. Believe me: there are worse things in life to waste time and money on.
[edit] Since nobody has posted I will add this. I think your idea of using cadaver dogs around Smith Lake and in areas like the Shillapoo Wildlife Area may have a higher value, but that's just my opinion. Again, so much time has passed. Time is your main enemy.
