I don't know if this has been mentioned to anyone or not, but on Colberts site (dbcooper.com) there is a video called "DB Cooper Escape Story". That video contains a large portion of the KATU video showing the small pieces of Cooper money that was found. So if anyone missed that video when it was up on youtube, you can see part of it - including the shards - on Colberts site. It starts at the 7:38 mark.
Have avoided the Colbert site just because I'm tired of him dominating most recent media speculation on Cooper, and that code-break "eureka" seems spurious at best - even if the letter ever came from Cooper, and there's no particular reason at this stage to believe it did. (I think you can point to the letters linking to each other in some cases; linking them to Cooper himself is another matter. There were trolls in the 70's, too, they just didn't have a worldwide web The History doc made me tear out hair - I couldn't see a good reason to harp on Rackstraw and still don't. If I'm wrong, give RR a medal for grifting, but for somebody who got caught so much, he doesn't feel like our master criminal. And the height and age - oy.
Because of my own bias, I do thank you for pointing to specific useful info on the Colbert site, because you can find useful tidbits even in some of the more flawed stories/videos online. The Nimoy doc from 1979 was riddled with what-the-hells, but it's helpful to me because it shows the airports, etc, before their more recent upgrades. And a link to what is known of those shards is good to have.
