How many bands per bundle:  Ckret said the guy at the bank told him he had wrapped ' a couple of bands" around each bundle which I took to mean two bands per bundle. I am not sure how many bands Tom used in his experiments. He may have used one band per bundle but doubled the band in some cases. His fishing pole photo attached may be two bands or one band doubled. Im not sure what to advise, frankly. You might try one band or may need to double one band to get a secure fit on the bundles? You might want to consult Tom also. Im sorry but I cant give you a better answer.

when Tom sent me the rubber bands several years ago, I made a bundle out of paper that would equal 100 bills. the size was similar to an actual bill. when I put a rubber band around the bundle it was lose and needed to be doubled. I seen no reason to put another band on, it was tight. not sure how they would put a rubber band around $500 worth. that's only 25 bills, it would fold up into a canoe....if they did weaker sets of bundles, I would of bundled these together giving them more strength...

Did anyone ever verify the rubber bands were in the center? looking at the bundles on the table from the FBI could be either holes from insects, or wear marks from the rubber bands. these were in the area of where two rubber bands would be used in pairs, or offset from center...I don't know if they would last long enough to be able to wear into the bills, even if they were getting wet/dry, just a hunch....

I believe Tom doubled one band, at the center position. Photos of Tom's wrapped bills show one band doubled at the center.

Second portion surrounds the money find and how the bands were secured. did anyone ever verify they were bundled in the middle?

Ckret said the bank guy said 'bands were placed in the middle or near middle of each bundle'.

Fair enough, must be insect holes....

Tom thot he had identified bacteria as the cause of most holes. Money eating bacteria.  :)) He has a series of photos documenting the process  - looks good to me as a plausible explanation.

Yes. A clock. Lots of clocks in the money story but few measured with any accuracy.  8)

Could be good, significant information -- if we do it right.  Meyer

Might be good to go deeper than we originally thought because of that possibility.

Negative, it would take a longtime to remove a foot of sand off the beach, or the beach would of been long gone years ago...best thing to do is try and maintain the same depth and measure each time we visit...

Or we could do as Shutter suggests.  If I had put more thought into it, Shutter, I might have come up with a better conclusion.  You're spot on, we'll be checking the sand depths at regular intervals -- we'll know exactly what's going on.

Possibly some sort of marker underneath the bundles that will always give the proper depth once the bundles are removed for examination...something that won't interfere with the bundles...this would only be needed on the one's being removed every 3 months...

'All of the Ingram money from one bundle', says SA John Pringle of the Seattle Office.
