That curve changes over time. I'm still working on that. the Clark county website spins around trying to nail that part down due to the shifting of the photo's. all the curved roads around the money location also change. it's been a straight line (road) for some time now.

I don't want to say 100%, but a lot of things are adding up. the further south you go, the less amount of tree's in background become apparent. then you have to worry about the north spoil.

It was good the 1980 photo's had the tree's bare (no leaves) but makes it a little tricky looking at all the other photo's full of life. it also cover's a lot of roads that are hidden inside, and behind the money location. makes it harder to identifiy tree formation etc.

I emailed USGS about some of the photo's (1980) is the one needed with a better resolution, but haven't got a response.

I added the position of the car in mine above - that makes it even easier to line landmarks up...

That is the position I believe Tom was thinking of. if you place the car in that position, his yellow pin would be in front of it....

Have you got a copy of that 79 usgs photo in the same aspect ratio that you used in this composite photo? One that shows the Fazio buildings? I can derive a scale from that IF its the same aspect ratio (size) as what you are using here? Do you know what I mean?

That I why I said earlier we had to nail these roads down - the changes. Tom could have been in what he thought was the right place in 2009 when in fact he wasn't.

It tricked me for some time now. it could be that simple. I noticed on his website he mentions the dirt road.

The 79 photo is the one from the DZ. I just enlarged it, and flipped it on it's side...

OK ... send me a copy of your enlargement of the 79 usgs) photo. I need an exact copy of the enlarged photo you made and used. Send by email - doesnt matter how big it will get here...

You dont have to tilt it or anything. Just send the enlarged usgs photo you used.

According to Clark county measuring tools, the curved road is 276 feet long in 2005. it's only 187 feet in 1978.

Put up a photo with the road segment your talking about.

Ok... it will take me some time but I can use a landmark to find the aspect ratio you used and go from there. Will be tomorrow at the earliest. If you find your enlarged saved copy send it to me.

here is Tom's overlay and the 2005 photo he used with the curved road

Okay, at last some photographs that make sense.

The red oval is at the point where a berm now heads out to the northeast.  In the left picture you have the green dot slightly north of the red oval.  If this is a recent picture, then that is a briar patch inside the blue rectangle.  And the lower right hand corner of the blue rectangle is inside the containment pit.

At the middle bottom of this same picture is shown a portion of the "road" on which the FBI parked a lot of cars in 1980 which are visible in other photographs.  This "road" actually has feed troughs for the cows along each side which are clearly visible.

In the second picture, the red oval again is the point where a berm now heads out to the northeast.  The green dot is now a considerable distance south of the oval and that is a briar patch inside the blue rectangle.

In the overlay photograph, Tom Kaye's money find location is very near the left side of the cut, or whatever is piled there, on the right side of the picture and below the vegetation line.  This is the point Meyer Louie and I arrived at using Tom's GPS coordinates and in our conversations with the local fishermen (particularly "Jon") not one of them ever suggested that we were at the wrong spot.  And Jon had been there almost ever day for the last 50 years.

To me, it looks like this exercise is leading right back to Tom Kaye's money find location.

I don't know when this picture was taken but let me point out some landmarks that should show up in other pictures.

The white dot with the Fazio Brothers Sand label is at the north end of the feed lot road where a lot of cars were parked in 1980.  The south end of that road intersects the road running from the Fazio's long building out to the Tina Bar gate.  This gate is on the northwest corner of the intersection that you can see with a road that curves to the southeast and around to the east.

From the gate going north along the road (which you can see curving off to the northeast after several hundred feet), you can see some large green trees at the water's edge.  There were plenty of smaller trees there, mostly dead, when Meyer and I visited in 2013 and that is the area where Tom's GPS coordinates leads to.  The actual GPS point for the money find is several feet above the present water level and out over the water itself.  Erosion took care of that change.

Also down at the bottom center of that picture, you can see that large boulders have now been placed at that point to help with the severe erosion problem there.
