Bruce, I agree it's a conundrum.
When I first got Sheridan's book, for all I knew he was just some random private citizen.
In the years since, he has injected himself into the Cooper vortex. Even before I got his book.
The 2007 parachutist article (his book was first printed to pdf, that I know of, in 2007...2007 was a big year for Pete!)
The History Channel interview
So, the way I see it, Pete is now a public figure in the Cooper Vortex. No longer private citizen.
As such, certain things become historical records. In my mind, it's kind of like the Pentagon Papers, in one sense.
Trying to hide something, is never a good thing, in my mind. I mean, if there is any issue, is Pete just saying "wait until I'm dead, Snowmman". Cause once he's dead, there's even less constraining realities.
I'm really curious if Pete no longer has the ability to publish his work.
I myself, had to go find an old computer in the garage and get it to boot (it still had Windows XP!) to find all the original information.
I'm starting to read up on epublication. I did use Styles in Word for formatting paragraphs, so I think I might have a smooth transition to epub.
(oh Bruce: talking about editting. I had just used Word's spelling/grammar/style checker to look for possible things that were bad..But then I did a pass or two with Grammarly. It was really great at catching things that Word missed. I was pretty impressed. Especially with spellings of names. It apparently figures out similar names, and assumes the spelling that is used the most is correct, and the spelling that is almost like that, is wrong, and prompts you about that one. It was really surprising how good Grammarly (the Word add-in) worked.. I used the free one, not the premium)
