Cats are right next to porn in portion of total Internet bandwidth consumed.

Banana cats will be a BIG draw in the movie and something that Coppola missed entirely.

Will the directors have to domesticate real banana cats? I doubt it. The movie Life of Pi has proven that real animals are no longer needed on movie sets.

I'm picturing Sheridan on the set of the movie while filming...
The stuntmen will be taking him up for the jump scenes with them..
They'll tell him "You're not allowed to jump, but wear this rig for safety...wink, wink"
..then Sheridan will get to "accidentally" fall out of the plane on a turn...

intrigant
Vocabulary word of the day from Sheridan. Ever so often I hit a word, and scratch my head.
(before this, it was bameba,  a name for 33 beer in Vietnam, back in the day: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login)

intrigant
A person who makes secret plans to do something illicit or detrimental to someone else.
Origin
Late 18th century: variant of French intriguant, from intriguer 'to intrigue'.

Oh Pete would jump for sure. I would like to exit with him. It would be an honor.

Did you know it was impossible to do a cutaway in that crap gear he jumped in China? No Capewell riser releases.
Did not bother him one bit.

He talked about China sending up really young kids with inadequate gear and insufficient training. He said there were many deaths. I think they wanted to compete in international skydiving meets. The Russians were into that big time.

Wonderful. Self descriptive?

Trump needs an anti intrigrant policy.

"That's not part of the bargain," Grecco said. "The bargain is that you fly me fifty kilometers north of Tay Ninh."

I just looked on a map of Vietnam.
Tay Ninh is near Saigon...now called Ho Chi Minh City.

50 km N of Tay Ninh would still be in territory considered South Vietnam back then?
But maybe it was Viet Cong controlled.

My main point: It doesn't seem like North Vietnam, as some have assumed?

I'm imagining Sheridan will be proud of the result.
I've not made it available (not until I see a proof print) but here's how the Lulu page will look

I find it ironic that I have a copy of Sheridan's book, and he doesn't. I wonder if he would like me to send Bobby B a copy of my copy so that RMB can proceed with HIS publishing deal.

Since, Petey and Bobby both read this Forum, allegedly, and I refuse to initiate contact with Bobby and Petey doesn't respond to my emails, I am unsure how to proceed. Maybe Bobby can convince Sheridan to authorize me to send Bobby the manuscript?

Always happy to help out another author....

Bruce, I agree it's a conundrum.

When I first got Sheridan's book, for all I knew he was just some random private citizen.
In the years since, he has injected himself into the Cooper vortex. Even before I got his book.
The 2007 parachutist article (his book was first printed to pdf, that I know of, in 2007...2007 was a big year for Pete!)
The History Channel interview

So, the way I see it, Pete is now a public figure in the Cooper Vortex. No longer private citizen.
As such, certain things become historical records. In my mind, it's kind of like the Pentagon Papers, in one sense.

Trying to hide something, is never a good thing, in my mind. I mean, if there is any issue, is Pete just saying "wait until I'm dead, Snowmman". Cause once he's dead, there's even less constraining realities.

I'm really curious if Pete no longer has the ability to publish his work.

I myself, had to go find an old computer in the garage and get it to boot (it still had Windows XP!) to find all the original information.

I'm starting to read up on epublication. I did use Styles in Word for formatting paragraphs, so I think I might have a smooth transition to epub.

(oh Bruce: talking about editting. I had just used Word's spelling/grammar/style checker to look for possible things that were bad..But then I did a pass or two with Grammarly. It was really great at catching things that Word missed. I was pretty impressed. Especially with spellings of names. It apparently figures out similar names, and assumes the spelling that is used the most is correct, and the spelling that is almost like that, is wrong, and prompts you about that one. It was really surprising how good Grammarly (the Word add-in) worked.. I used the free one, not the premium)

The problem you have Bruce, is that you don't know for sure where the copy you have, came from.

Like: How do you know I didn't modify it, or even create it entirely from scratch, before I sent it to you?
(well, I  have already noted it had some modifications: duplicated pages were removed. I include Sheridan's comments on that (Dog vs Dog1) in the new edition, to lend some crumbs that authenticate)

Why do you think you actually have a copy that is the words Sheridan wrote?

Sheridan had it right.

Vince jumps out of the helicopter about 50 km north of Tay Ninh

He wouldn't have been able to fly in a helicopter all the way to North Vietnam. This choice makes perfect sense.

That 11/8/65 doc from the CIA, says this (extracted below) about where COSVN (The Viet Cong Central Committee for South Vietnam) was located in South Vietnam, It was in the Tay Ninh province.

And the terrain was mountainous and rugged, just like Sheridan says in the book.

from You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

COSVN, The Viet Cong Central Committee for South Vietnam

The Central Office for South Vietnam (COSVN) is the supreme Viet Cong political military coordinating organization in South Vietnam. It is directly subordinate to the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Lao Dong (Communist) Party in North Vietnam. Firm details on the organization and membership of COSVN are lacking.

..

There is no COSVN headquarters installations as such. Rather, the headquarters components-personnel, as well as administrative, training, and bivouac facilities-are dispersed throughout War Zone C, a rugged, jungle-covered and partly mountainous terrain extending some 40 miles along the Cambodian border and including perhaps 200-300 square miles within Tay Ninh Province. As is the case with Viet Cong regular military units, COSVN headquarters personnel and support units frequently move from one facility or camp, or village or hamlet complex, to another.

Here's why I don't think Sheridan is reading this forum:

When he was reading Dropzone, his first comments when he posted, where about Bruce talking to his brother and his wife. He called them winos who drank wine from a box.

A true Sheridan rant, would start with complaining about EU talking to his ex-wife, and me naming the kids with that wife.

RMB just talks about the book. Sheridan would never just talk about the book.

I think RMB is lying about all his current Sheridan communications.

What a fabulous inter family insult. Sheridan really has a way with words. I have been waiting for an appropriate opportunity to use it myself.

It is amazing how he gets so many details right, like a credible location for Greccos helo jump. Snow, was it in round trip range? Could they make it to and from the exit point?
