That, my friend, is sort of ridiculous.

Nah, not really. Perhaps not likely in this circumstance, but certainly not ridiculous.  Lots of people from all walks of life and income levels live check to check, or in other words, they have no trouble to blow $20k, $50k or $100k in short order.

So you're saying you have a more plausible scenario?

What is it? Your scenario is less plausible.

The amount he had in Nepal is just from something Sheridan said.

Why believe it?

Just remove the DBC case from this discussion about Sheridan for a moment.

If we look exclusively at Sheridan there are a lot of things that just don't add up.

Given this truth, it is reasonable and fair to proceed and look for patterns of behavior and ways that certain things may fit together. After all, what else is there?

That's my point exactly. If he can blow through, or lie about, 20K. He can also blow through, and lie about, 194K.

I'm curious about something. Does anybody here know a regular cigarette smoker? Are there signs of nicotine stains on their fingers?

I have not read anything that indicates that DBC had nicotine stained fingers, yet if he was a "heavy smoker" wouldn't he have nicotine stained fingers? Perhaps this is just an urban myth.

Pete, at the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, Nov 15, 2016

EDITOR: The collapse of the Roman Empire didn't begin with Caligula. And the same can be said about the American Republic.

It didn't begin with Donald Trump. It began a long time ago with the Vietnam War and the massacre of 3.5 million Vietnamese. There was Watergate and the impeachment of Richard Nixon; Ronald Reagan selling missiles to Iran and using the cash to arm the Contras; George W. Bush and Dick Cheney's invasion of Iraq and thus the enrichment of Halliburton; the tea party and Sarah Palin; and finally the stonewalling of the appointment of a moderate U.S. Supreme Court justice.

Yes, Trump has been a long time coming. He is the culmination of all this, and his rule will be brutal and unsparing. Yes, and as an afterthought, there is the nuclear button. One of his usual tantrums, and sayonara.

SHERIDAN PETERSON.

I bet that "crazy old man" $20 that Trump would lose. Sheridan told me I was making "a stupid bet". I thought I was going to fleece a doom and gloom leftie who didn't understand or chose to ignore the most recent demographics and polls. I paid him in person with ten two dollar bills. Those blue eyes were sparkling as he took the bills. It wasn't the money, he actually told me I could keep it (I didn't). It was a sage chuckling at my naivete. The money was a tribute, a bow to the superior analyst.

My late Mom smoked a lot. At least a pack a day for all of her adult life. She did not have any noticeable stains on her fingers.

One thing that can't be disputed about Sheridan's life, he has difficulty maintaining long-term stable relationships with friends, spouses, kids, landlords, physicians, employers... just about everyone.

What amazingly bad luck that all of those people were assholes.  ;)

He called me twice while skydiving. I cut away both times.

You must have had a few calls from the Reaper while ice climbing Snow. Tell us about them.

There are good reasons to keep talking about Sheridan

1) He seems to like it, on some level
2) He'll be dead soon, probably. Will be too late to talk to him soon!
3) No one seems to be butt-hurt by it, at least yet.
4) It helps keep what he wants to say about Vietnam and other political topics out there. Hell it's a better platform than the mid-term Republicans have.
5) He's an old guy, all alone in Windsor. Giving him something to rant about, is probably food for his soul.
6) He's an O.G. skydiver. He's got good back-in-the-day stories.
7) He was a civilian skydiver in Vietnam during the war. It's funny how people were so confident that it would be impossible to have a reasonable suspect from Vietnam, because of Cooper's age. Sheridan proves the idea that generalizations don't apply.
8) Sheridan's random long life inspires me. Although his apparent attitude towards women, at least in the past, doesn't.

Claire told me he was constantly getting into fights (she probably meant verbal) and that it was never his fault according to him. She attributes this to Sheridan's having had almost 5,000 jobs over the last 60 years.

I heard Sheridan got in some fights with people from the internet.
That's hard to believe, since the internet is about peace and love.

As I consider Sheridan as a suspect, the things that strike me as the most compelling in terms of pointing to him NOT being Cooper are:

1) Non-smoker, at least until 1962.

2) Thin hair on the top of his head.

3) The fact that he has toyed with people about being Cooper.

4) No apparent signs of excess wealth...new 1972 Jaguar in the driveway.

Re 377
I'm not as old as you, but:
Still it's a little bit of the shock going to the gym and the perky receptionist says "Oh you get the senior discount"

The funny thing when you're old: All the young women smile and chat with you. But it's a little bit of a shock when you realize it's just because they're being nice to the old guy.

Funny. I remember that.
I believed the statistics people
We all should have listened to Sheridan more.
