If I can find PENNEY's ads from 1961 or 1962 that should be confirmation of the above.

This is important.
I think your data on the PENNEY'S logo is wrong

I found a site and logo that says 1962

This would be important. if the tie is 61 or 62, then Sheridan can have it with Hanford site pollution

The web page says this about the logo
This logo was used in Penney's ads during 1962 and 1963.

This isn't the logo that was on the tie. If you click on the link it's the version posted at the top which they say was to be formally introduced on November 24, 1963.

I went to Tom's site and saved the gallery html and files and grabbed the tie label photos.

They say Penney's like I wanted

Are you saying the use of small or large letters is the issue? That the small letters were not pre-1963?

The logo you show is the 1963 version of the JC Penny's logo.

Yes, if you're referring to the colorful, partly yellow, tie with label. That is the logo from 1963.

The colorful tie you show could not have been manufactured and sold before 1963.

The phrase "Penney's Towncraft" was used in this newspaper ad in 1962 for a shirt

I believe EU is saying it's the "funky P plus lowercase" in the logo that's key?
