If you did link your Dad into Norjack, within days Jo would claim that Duane had a connection with him.

Duane knew Rackstraw, according to Jo.

He knew McCoy too and felt responsible for his death.

Duane was also a packer and spotter for USFS Smoke Jumpers, according to Jo.

Duane also was involved in the Fulton Skyhook pickups, according to Jo.

As soon as TK postulated Tektronix as a possible source for exotic materials found on the tie, Duane also worked for Tektronix, according to Jo.

Find any fact or person that might be connected with Norjack and Duane will be linked.

It's called covering your bases.  ;)

Didn't know you were such an expert on Jo.

People are more interested in Jo than in Cooper! Some people like the vortex.

I like Jo, but she does a disservice to her tireless crusade and hurts her credibility by turning wishes and speculation into facts. I call them Jo-facts. Different from real facts. Jo-facts include Duane's VOR detecting vibrating garment, his combo CB and VHF AM aircraft radio transceiver, inmate smoke jumpers, Duane's USFS job as a parachute packer and jump spotter and the list goes on and on. She has stated many times that Duane made some parachute jumps without a speck of evidence backing up that claim. She is a frequent emailer and being banned from various forums has not hurt her reach into the Vortex.

I like the Vortex. I also like most of the people who inhabit it.

I still consider myself a Newby as I haven't been involved in any of the earlier events. I like logical thinking and that has caused me to look at this Cooper caper in a different way. I know it's been 46 years ago and many people have lost interest in the whole mystery. For that reason I understand that TV shows like the History Channel has merit in bringing the caper back into the news. However as I watched the show, it had credibility only up until the ridiculous end part that was all about Josh parachuting close to Reno. There is nothing logical to back up this part of the story.
I haven't heard any update on Tom Colbert's latest story. It also seems to contain lots of parts that seem illogical to me. Am I alone on this ? There must be someone out there that either is Dan Cooper OR actually knows who he was. Perhaps the main reason no one has come forward is that they fear they would be prosecuted for hindering prosecution. Perhaps 377 could answer that question. Maybe the only way the FBI will ever find out what happened is for them to grant immunity to anyone who might have hindered in any way. I realize that they will NEVER pardon Cooper and they shouldn't. However I just don't see any way that nobody knows who really did it. JMHO

It's family. It's home. What more can I say?

I find the winds of the Vortex are like a comforting purr, soft and reassuring. However, I do recognize that many people consider the noise to be a whine akin to an angry chain saw.

As a somewhat newbie guy, Kerm, I'm glad you still have the courage to post amongst us cranky old-timers.

BTW: The Reno jump scenario was featured in Josh Gates' episode of Expedition Unknown on the Travel Channel. The History Channel docu, "DB Cooper, Case Closed?" is a whole other animal/beast. Like you, I think the Reno jump scenario is spurious. (Did you see me earlier in the episode? Hunh, hunh? I was the fat guy on the beach wearing a T shirt that said, "I'm not DB Cooper.")

Ahem. Now, back to your commentary...DB Cooper's continued isolation and utter silence about his identity suggests to me a few things. One is that he came from and returned to a very private world where secrets are kept religiously, so to speak. Like covert ops, the CIA, Seal Team Six, etc.

The other locale or environment to harbor a DB Cooper is a personal world of "grudge," such as the Joe Lakich character that Bill Rollins has identified. A regular guy, law-bidding, who experienced an immense betrayal, let's say by the government - or in Lakich's case the FBI - and the loss of his daughter due to FBI stupidity and ineffective protocols. A docu is being produced currently on how the "58 November" incident effected the FBI, J. Edgar, and law enforcement in general. It may have also spawned a skyjacking.

One has no legal obligation to turn in a fugitive, but it's a crime if you aid and/or abet them, lie to the FBI or interfere with an investigation. Just doing nothing to help the FBI is NOT a crime. The best defense against aiding and abetting charges is to say that you didn't know whether the person in question actually committed the crime.

Grudges among DBC candidates abound. Ted Braden had one. Rackstraw had a STRONG one.  Sheridan Peterson witnessed horrible atrocities by the US military against civilians in Vietnam and had a huge grudge about those war crimes being swept under the rug. So it's impossible to filter by grudge alone.

The FBI did not rule out candidates on complexion or eye color, so why should we?

Bruce is right, the Vortex is family. Maybe a dysfunctional one, but still family.

A key point against Christiansen was his description according to several agents, but stated other things that ruled him out. I think the description is pretty solid..the sketch, and eye color are in question IMHO...

One of the few things that Larry Carr and I agree on totally is that the only aspect of Kenny Christiansen's candidacy to be DB Cooper is that he is male.

I get the updates too from Jo.  Not quite like DZ, but she's still working her angle.  Good for her.  Her tenacity is something to behold.

If Blevins was here right now, think of the pages and pages of response we'd have to witness in response to your note, Shutter.  He would re-tell his whole story again, and again, and again -- the house, the attic, KC and his whereabouts, the three breasted woman from Twisp with all the horses, and so on.  Raise your hand if you miss it.  That's what I thought....
