Cooper has a broken foot and goes clear down to Tina bar and plants the money, then hobbles all the way back up to Lake Merwin hiding in a shed? lot of mileage covered there...

Gunther changed the specifics of the locations, etc, as agreed with Clara, to get that info, as to hide the identity. So the one place the shed and Clara's house wasn't, was on Lake Merwin.

The guy holds onto possible evidence for over a decade? I don't see much credibility in this. As the guy said in the review, why didn't the FBI do anything, or try and verify that letter?

I always find it odd he would use a double alias....Same for the letters.

He was contacted by the supposed Cooper early... then his girlfriend contacted Gunther soon after he perished... 11 years later,  hence the delay. Most all the info he got was from Clara.  Read the book.

the only known missing persons from Canada during the early 70's that fits Cooper is James Hugh MacDonald.

. Despite intensive air search neither MacDonald nor his aircraft have been located.

He must be alive, it's 'astronomical" to believe they can't find him, or the plane?

I'd never heard of MacDonald before but that is pretty interesting. He was a pilot who had been in the Royal Canadian Air Force and an avid outdoorsman. He was also an engineer (though it doesn't appear he was the kind of engineer the tie evidence may point to). He was the right age (42) and build (6'1" 175 pounds) and his photo is not a far cry from the Cooper sketch. One of the last things he said to his wife was "I want to live."

He disappeared on Dec. 7 of 1971, so about 2 weeks after the hijacking. Would be strange to return home for 2 weeks and then make your disappearance. Unless you didn't develop any intentions of disappearing until after the hijacking was complete. He left behind a wife and two kids -- has anyone asked them if he was around on the night of the hijacking?

Total speculation of course, but an interesting person to think about nonetheless.

Odds would be a lot better if they found the plane, and he was missing...

Does Jo Weber post on this forum?  She says LeClair is Weber.  After seeing a photo of Weber for the first time, I was taken aback by the size of his ears... surely that was a huge identification of him, by the witnesses... which makes me wonder now, if Weber was LeClair, with Gunther's "mouse" reference (as in Mickey Mouse ears) but just not actually Cooper, and that Clara actually is the lady Jo says she was, but that Clara got it wrong, completely. I saw the years of her postings on DZ but didn't see any reference to the gigantic ears, and how/why her reasoning for how it could have escaped the witness reports.

Jo doesn't post here for several reasons...she can link Duane to anything..he was in prison half his life, but to everyones amazement was able to accomplish more than anyone could do in there lifetime...he knows the Anglin Brothers (Alcatraz) the JFK shooting, area 51, special ops, he built the VOR towers, master CB wiz, plus much much more  ;D

all of that, but was horrible as a criminal, couldn't steal a womens purse without getting caught. look back in the thread of Dropzone, and you will see her discussion about the book. she spoke with Gunther, or at least claimed it.

I spoke with Bill Mitchell in a few emails and in person when Mark Bennett and I met him for lunch. Regarding Weber, he said he would have noticed the ears being that big. He told me that he does not remember big ears. He only remembers the hijacker having the saggy skin under the chin and he always thought they had the composite drawing was thinner than what he remembered.

Here is what Bill Mitchell said in an email to me about Weber, "  BTW I'm thinking Jo Weber (text deleted by me)!  I told her that I didn't think her husband was D.B Cooper and she didn't believe me."

It's amazing how they go against a witness, lots of them do this....these guys have been in the public eye for decades. Christiansen, and Weber are leaders in the public eye, and yet nothing comes of it...

Do you still have contact with Bill Mitchell, I have suspect images including profile and he does have a "saggy turkey neck".. dark
slightly marcelled hair.. closely matches the composite

any way to have him look at them..

I replied to your PM...He would like to stay private.

His memory is faded and can't say, "that's the guy". He only remembers features. He thought the FBI sketch portrayed the hijacker with a thinner face than he remembered.

Vicki, has anyone ever asked Mitchell about Cooper's speech patterns ... how it struck him?

And Mitchell's raw impression about the man looking American or foreign.

Maybe Mark B can add to this. Mark and I met him for lunch the day I filmed for the History Channel (September 24, 2015). He only remembers certain features of the hijacker. He did not specify speech or if he looked foreign. At the time I did not ask. However, in an email to me he stated this about my father:

Here is the reply after seeing photos and videos of Melvin Wilson.

Hi Vicki,
I'm not ignoring you, I'm just been thinking and pondering my response. Again it was 43 years ago and I don't have the clear picture in my mind.  But I do remember my reaction to certain things. (as I told the FBI, I was a sophomore at University of Oregon and couldn't understand why this older guy was getting all the attention from the flight attendant!! I checked him out pretty well )

OK this is what I've come up with, On the plus side his cheeks, chin and neck looked more like what I thought he looked like.  I had always thought the composite drawing had his face to thin. That isn't much but that is best I can do.  I'll keep looking at the pictures and see if something else comes up.

My thought is that I probably wouldn't take this to the FBI with just my recollection of D.B. and the pictures of your Dad. I mean 43 years is a long time..  But I feel for your need to know and urgency of trying to find out about your Dad. You certainly can use my name and my thoughts on the pictures of your Dad with the FBI.  Several other people have contacted me using lawyers and newspaper people to try and get answers with the FBI.

Let me know if there is anything else you need or that I can do.

Bill.
