Big News - I'm Retiring

Yup, after CC22 next week I will officially retire as Mayor of Cooperville. I want to live a simpler life and one more closely connected to nature. My reasons for coming to Washington 32 years ago have concluded, so I will be leaving the Evergreen State and going into the big unknown. Some destinations are known in the short term. On November 22 I will be returning to NY to finish closing out my mother's house and selling it. Closing on the house is expected to take place around February 1, 2023, and at that point I will slide into my pick-up and drive to Key West to go for a swim in the warmest ocean water I can find. I'm also thinking of parking in long-term at Miami International and heading to Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands for a week or two.

After that, I will head back to Eatonville to finish cleaning-out all my stuff from my rental RV on a buddy's six acres. After that, I don't know - the desert? French Polynesia? Santa Fe? Buy a boat and sail the ocean blue?

As a result of these life changes, I will be traveling light - very light. Hence, I cannot and will not take my Cooper stuff with me. I have 14 years worth of notes, interviews, and investigations. Do any of you want it? Also, I will be giving away all the Cooper references materials and books I have accumulated since 2008. You want any? Galen has got dibs on my copy of Himms' NORJAK, GG's Skyjack, and HAHAHA. Other than that, it's all up for grabs and I'll be bringing it down to Vancouver next week. First come, first serve.

Lastly, I will always continue to answer questions from those who call, chat on podcasts, and sell my books - DB Cooper and the FBI, 3rd Edition.

Some sad news to report.

W. Wayne Walker aka Sluggo aka Sluggo Monster passed away on Dec. 27th, 2022. He was 74.

He envisioned his website as the library of the Cooper case and himself as the librarian. The contents of that website are still being used and referenced today and will likely be used for years to come. His overall contributions to the case cannot be overstated. His departure from the Vortex was, in my opinion, a tremendous loss.

RIP Sluggo.

Sad news indeed. I had always hoped for Sluggos return to the vortex. Thanks for the update.

I kept in touch with Sluggo with occasional email
exchanges over the years. I was really choked up
when he informed me he was on final approach. What a wonderful warm
intelligent person. It was he who first tipped me off about the aluminum
turnings and titanium found on the tie. He was very optimistic that this evidence would eventually solve the case.

I’ll sure miss him. RIP my friend.

ah sad to hear. we had our back and forths. He was confident his point of view on things would lead to great results.
Interestingly, the release of the FBI files trumped everything in terms of information. i.e. if the FBI files had been released earlier, there wouldn't have been so much wasted energy guessing about accuracy of minimal info.

The biggest problem in the early days was lack of information, and it was easy to believe all was rumor.

Still, I got the feeling of a real person on the other end of "Sluggo Monster" ...so he touched me and I'm sorry to see him gone.

Im very sorry to hear this.  So how have  you been? I have not been  here in some time.  Bruce now retired and I knew him only.  So fast question, of  course  you do not have to answer.  Watching this guy Chris Todd.  I guess he believes Arthur Lee Allen is the Zodiac?  Do you think he has something in this guy?  Of course I know you are deep into that case and know all the names.  I am an amateur on it and to be honest, the case I have the most interest in is JFK still.  I subscribe to America's Untold Stories with Mark Groubert.  A very smart guy along with his guy Erik Hundley  I do not believe everything he believes to be true.  So back to Zodiac, he is pretty well sold on Arthur Lee Allen.

First time Ive popped in in some time.  I hope those Ive talked to in the past are ok?  Like Bruce?  Anyway, I never knew until now that they throw a damn desk out of the plane in a reinactment?  Crazy.  Risky.  Imagine the lawsuits if anyone had a freaking desk land on them.  This bald headed Englishmand did his own bloody special on this about a year ago and I am just now watching. it.  It had done a MH370 special that led me to this.  "Decoding the Unknown".  So does Ulis still thin he has all the answers?  I never believed he did.

It's fair to say that things have been very dead here for quite some time.

However, after declaring that the Dropzone was for sale, it now appears to be down. Likely forever.

So, if you want to talk Cooper, and want to avoid Facebook, this would be a nice choice for you.
