New Billy the Kid photo as a result of good detective work. On NatGeo tonight. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I seen that yesterday...they said it will be worth big bucks if verified.

They have forensically identified a number of people in the photo and the location the photo was taken in ... and an approximate date and the circumstances in 1878. The tintype plate was certified as authentic by an expert in the field ..

This is another area of interest with me. Tombstone, and the gun fight at the OK Coral. a couple years back they almost threw away the original transcripts from the gunfight. wild Bill Hickok, Butch & Sundance, Little Bighorn etc. all good stuff.

What I could kick myself for now is the fact of hating all of this during my school years. now, I can't get enough of it  8)

The town I grew up in was founded in 1815. the town didn't change much until the last 20 years where it really started to grow, but most of the old building are still there. below is a couple photo's of one of the buildings in town. the first pic is from the late 1800's, and the next is from the 70's. it's still there today. originally it was a store/hotel. back in my day it was a drug store and the family lived upstairs. you could drive through town in about 30 seconds.

Tombstone held its annual Helldorado Days over this past week end and, as usual, that included staged gunfights using blanks.  At least that was the way it was suppose to happen.

But yesterday, one of the gunfighters fired five live rounds.  One round hit his gunfight opponent in the stomach, a second one grazed a woman who was several hundred feet away, and the other three rounds apparently hit buildings.

The injured gunfighter was flown to Tucson for surgery and apparently will survive.

I doubt if the fellow who fired the live rounds will be invited back.

Wow, unfortunate. Bruce Lee's son was killed in the same manner. The gun used as a prop did indeed have a blank, but a real bullet was lodged in the barrel of the gun and when the blank was fired behind it, well...you know the rest.

Does anyone know what ever happened to Dan Gryder? He was Dangerous Dan on DZ and did the youtube video where he was in a bank with 200 grand on the table. I think, like many others, he got tired of all the BS on DZ and left. He was apparently working on a documentary and was going to reveal who he thought Cooper was in 2012. I've seen nothing from him since. I always though his suspect was McCoy, but he never said for sure. Regardless of his suspect, I'd like to hear his theory.

I haven't checked in a while, but he was working the same story that came out of California. the newspaper deal where they claimed to talk with Cooper. it's in the FBI vault. he was working that angle. when I mentioned that on his channel, he removed the comment, and blocked me  :o

A blank can kill also.  A number of years ago, an actor was working on a film and there was a gun loaded with blanks being used in the scene.  Apparently the actor got mad about something and picked up the gun, put it to his head, and pulled the trigger.  The blank fired and the end result was that the actor died.

I have seen quite a few of the staged gunfights in Tombstone over the years and the re-creators always seem to be taking ever precaution to prevent injuries of any kind.  They always point the gun down toward the ground and away from the other guy before even firing a blank.

But yesterday, the gun had to be pointed directly at the other re-creator as well as being loaded with live rounds.  So there are quite a few questions here that need to be answered.  And I imagine that one or more law enforcement agencies is going to be doing an investigation into what led up to the incident.

And I am willing to bet that the injured actor and his attorney are going to file some legal paperwork on the matter as well.

I tried contacting Dan Gryder a while ago but he did not respond.

He is busy as airline pilot and flying his vintage DC-3. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

He promised to reveal his suspect on Dropzone but never followed though as far as I can recall.

It seems that Dan may be out of the Cooper business. I can't seem to find his video on youtube any longer. There are some former posters from DZ that I would really like to see show up here. Dan is one, and I always thought Safecrack brought a lot to the table, even though it seemed as if he supported Weber as being DBC. Snowmman is another obvious one. I know you still talk to him some. He obviously has no interest in discussing Cooper online, otherwise he would be here. But, does he still have interest in the case?

Snow maintains a mild interest in the case but I regretfully cannot interest him to returning online. Something else has his interest these days.

I miss Snow, Safe, Sluggo, Orange, Hang Diver, Farflung, Airtwardo, and many others.  They brought a lot to the table.

I do worry about what happened to Farf. He just disappeared.
