Georger You say: 'Even if Peterson wrote the letters, how does that prove he was DB Cooper? All it would prove is Peterson licked stamps and sent the letters, presumably. That might indicate Peterson was a schmuck, but its a long way from proving he was DB Cooper"
I Say: If you can't see how that blows the case wide open, you must be stuck on stop also just like the FBI. That lack of thinking is why the case has not been solved in 44 years. If a match is found, it proves where Sheridan was (in Portland the scene of the crime) and blows his alibi about being in Nepal. Also, a lie to the FBI about being in Nepal is a Federal Crime and that threat could be used to pry the DB story out of Peterson (rather than a jail sentence). Just ask yourself why would our number one suspect write the four letters? He was very smart but DNA was not being used in 1972 to solve crimes. Duh!

I think my concerns are commonsensical.
We know Peterson has a personality trait where frankly he plays the role of a smartass, on top of allegedly being a very skilled person. He likes to tweak the nose of authority. His Tibet alibi could be a lie. I seriously doubt its the first time he has lied? I could see somebody like Peterson writing the socalled Cooper letters just to insert himself into the situation and disrupt the process. Maybe he even admires DB Cooper? Who knows. I could see him writring the Cooper letters 'out of spite' because essentially I see this fellow as a rather spiteful vindictive person in some of his actions .... so lets say he wrote the Cooper letters and that can be proved through dna. Will his dna go on to prove a match to the partials the FBI says it has (three)? I dont know. What I do know is if the FBI only has partials of the type Larry says they have, then even if Peterson was Cooper you could never supply a statistically valid match between his dna and the partials the FBI ... which brings us back to the beginning again. The beginning is Doubt & Uncertainty. With no way to bridge the gaps.
Maybe Peterson wants to be DB Cooper? Envies Cooper? Who knows.
At the end of the day you can only request and demand and keep bringing the issue up. It does not appear Peterson is working with you!?
I am not convinced the socalled Cooper letters were written by DB Cooper.
The best reason to extract dna from the stamps, if that can be done, is to compare dna off the letters with the partials the FBI thinks it has. Who knows that this has not already been done?
