The history with Flyjack is not so good. a lot of bad blood between Eric, Fly and R99. I have had issues with Fly but tend to forgive more than usual with him. it's a battle of the minds and who is right or wrong. he seems to fair better by himself but keeps a close eye on the forum like he was a part of it. Georger, seems to give him more credit than when Fly left. R99, is set in his beliefs and not sure what he thinks of Fly now. he's more than welcome to return. I've only refused to allow 3 people back on this board. that turned into 2 people. Nicky turned his whole attitude around proving himself worthy of becoming a researcher. I have grown to respect him and has proven me wrong about changing. he really did.

As for Robert, he will never change. he continues to lie and it's become evident to a lot of people. I believe he's not being truthful about his event in many ways. Robert has been a problem before this forum started. if the DZ shutdown again he will scream that it's not his fault. there is no discussion on that board. Flyjack will post something new and it gets covered up with rants, spamming and off topic crap about his life and an old truck. his obsession of proving himself for being rejected appears to be the whole problem. he's up till 6-7 am every night posting crap. where does Gayla fit into all of this? is she awake all night too? do we need to call a reality show or get him on "Intervention" for help? I know people are very tired of the whole episode with Robert..

His political attacks are from an email I sent him. he was rambling on about the Russian collusion which turned out to be false. I sent him the email correcting him and I instantly became an alt-right nut job. he interprets things over one word or action. you tell him you are not sure about someone and he will tell people you hate that person. when you send a email saying basically the same things stated online he will tell people a "hateful" email was sent to him which would cause me to reveal the email showing different. once he gets proven wrong he quickly changes the subject and becomes a never ending loop.

Did you read what McNally described about jumping from the stairs?

I agree. I think it is highly likely that the identity of DB Cooper is unknown to us at this time.

The thinking and postures of Tom Colbert's "Cold Case Team" is very informative to me about how narrow-minded most FBI agents and LE actually are when it comes to evaluating suspects and evidence. The people who have presented suspects so far, or at least popularized them through the actions of the FBI's investigations, live and work in that narrow mind-set.

Note: NO one at the FBI started jumping up and down with glee when Tom Kaye and the CS found all those goodies on the tie. It seemed to be Too Much Information for them to process. Too complicated for them to engage mentally and psychologically.

Remember, the case has always been outside the FBI's wheelhouse of comfort and skills. So too, Cooper himself.

Also, too, consider the process of uncovering the Golden State Killer. It was the dogged determination of a journalist - someone outside the LE culture - who did the heavy lifting on discovering who the GSK really is. Yes, the weight of LE finally put him behind bars, but it took someone outside the usual parameters of investigation to get there.

Bruce, have you seen the Netflix doc, "Don't F**k With Cats"? It's a somewhat similar situation where some Facebook users followed and eventually helped bring down a killer. Strange story, but worth a watch if you haven't seen it.

I did. I'm not that familiar with him. Was he an experienced jumper (sounds like not)? What kind of chute did he have, was he the one with just the harness and the front reserve? That would be consistent with it hitting him in the face.

The way he approached his exit was interesting, I wonder what their airspeed was and what he had to hold onto as he was just hanging by his hands. That might be hard to do at high speed unless you had a good grip on something. It sounds like he had good stability after the exit. Him falling feet first at the beginning is standard, as the relative wind is coming from the forward speed of the plane. Being stable, his body naturally follows the arc from forward throw to downward fall, that's how he ends up facing earth. I had to laugh at his thought, "This is balls!". And reaching for the ripcord with the right hand without a counter move with the left will put you into a spin, a newer jumper will also often look down and dip a shoulder, which would contribute to that.

When jumpers get the chance to jump a jet (I have not taken occasion to do so), they remove the door/stair assembly and just exit the open doorway. I'd actually like to try it with the stairs (and I bet 377 would too). The sketchy part would be not knowing what the stairs might do, if a bit of turbulence might cause them to bounce up and slam you into the top. Of course, I'd want my rig and a good landing area!

He hijacked a 727 not long after after Cooper did. he only had a front chute. they didn't give him anything but front chutes. I figured you would be interested in his story about the stairs since you spoke about them. you are correct, he had no experience what so ever. he read up on a lot of things trying to learn. he was in prison from 72 until, I believe 2011..he gave us some incite of what it really was like on the stairs.

The media stated his pants blew off but he said that didn't happen. I believe the speed was around 300. the speed he wanted didn't allow the stairs to drop. he ended up jumping much faster than any of the copycats, if not mistaken.

I believe his prints were found on the gun is how he got caught. I will read again to see if anyone turned him in.

Yes, Robert, I have seen "Don't F**K With Cats." I had to give up after a few episodes as the whole subject matter was too disturbing to me, but the investigative process that a band of dedicated citizens undertook is exactly what I'm talking about.

Speaking of Netflix, I have posted my top 25 Netflix shows at the Mountain News for those of you who are scrambling to find good stuff to watch. Some are movies, but most are TV series.

Along those lines, I'm watching "The Bureau" at Amazon Prime/Sundance. Fascinating French spy thriller that is SO not American-Bang-Bang-Bang. Sublime, subtle, superb. My French is getting pretty good, too - Mais, qui!

Much of The Bureau has to do with internal politics and pressures - who is lying to whom and why. It's easy to see how the French Intelligence Service, the DGSE, is a lot like the FBI and DBC.

I cancelled Netflix a while back. I didn't like the movies they had. years ago they had good movies. I'm sure the cost for them caused the removal of a lot of good one's. I ended up watching sitcoms vs movies. even those started to disappear. I'm old school liking Cheers, Wings, Andy Griffith, Quantum Leap, Sliders, even American Restoration which I'm currently watching now...don't recall any documentaries that stick out at the moment..

I actually saw part of a Quantum Leap episode last week.  Great show and great memories.  In hindsight I wish they had done an episode on DB Cooper (they did one on JFK and Oswald.  Little Donald Trump was even in one).  DB Cooper would have made a great episode.  I read once where Donald Bellisario had talked about future seasons and what he wanted to do. I'll have to look that up.

Cheers was a show my parents loved, but I loved the actual bar where it took place (at least the outside scenes).

Quantum is on right now (cometTV).It's on every night for 3 episodes. I have an outside antenna also to pickup some channels that are good. I basically use sling for television. cancelled cable a while back.

I don't remember the JFK episode. Al puts a lot of comedy into the show. Cheers gives me memories because I was working in a bar at the time. Two And A Half Men is another good one. Cooper would be good for Quantum. a movie is hard to do since no real action occurred. you have to skew away from the actual story to make it exciting. another one I forgot is Married With Children...

I get a kick out of watching old sitcoms when they are in stores and notice the prices. I remember getting a discount if can goods were dented..
