Who knows, G? Why don't you ask him. I would myself, but I'd like to be friends with him for more than just a week, if you catch my drift....

Actually I dont catch your drift . . . never did. In the meantime there is new evidence in the Cooper case, presented by three well established USGS hydrologists that strongly dispute the Kaye distance interpretation. They present a solid model based on data ... and they dont quite understand why the reports given to the FBI back in 1980 excluded basic well known facts of flow and erosion movement in the lower Columbia which were very well understood at the time. They dont understand why the Washougal (of all places!) was given the emphasis it was given back in 1980, while other more relevant facts of hydrology were strangely ignored completely back in 1980.

Sounds good. What's the model?

Got a new friend today

I was truly stunned today to get a Facebook friend request from Larry Carr. Of course, I confirmed the friend request, and boy, I was doubly surprised to see a lot of guys I already knew in the friend collection - Tom Kaye, Darren, and others. Whew.

But not Marla. Hmmmm....

So, Larry is married to Terri, and has two daughters. He lives in Snoqualmie, WA, and that's it. No Coop, no FBI juicy stuff, no gossip. No facts. No commentary. I couldn't even find if he works for the FBI. Sigh....

Bruce: This is an interesting development.  On the surface a Facebook friend request is not a big deal, but from the former lead agent on this case it could be.  I wonder if he is close to retirement or actually did retire, or has been given a little bit of leeway to communicate directly with folks like you about the case.  FBI agents have different retirement requirements than regular government employees (GS), and typically have to retire earlier (age 57 I believe).  I peg Carr to be around 53 or so.  If he has his 20 years he could retire and have a second act.  Maybe it's wishful thinking, but him being on Facebook with a few of you guys seems to be a good sign.  Just don't go knocking on his door in the middle of the night. Not that you would do that. :)

Darren, talk about a great guest to have on The Cooper Vortex!

RobertMBlevins reports he was also friended by Carr today.  :)

Maybe Larry is lonely as the quarantine stay-at-home orders enter their 4th month...

...but it is an encouraging sign that Larry is reaching out to folks in the Cooper firmament. Yes, everyone - please be reassured that I will not be knocking on Larry door any time soon, and certainly not after nightfall. Hopefully, RMB will do the same.

Covid in Cooper Country

The WA State Department of Health released new Covid data yesterday, and Cooper Country has the highest increases statewide. Up 39% since Memorial Day. Not exactly sure what that means, at least for visitors as I hear some folks want to visit T-Bar and related locales this summer.

On a personal note, my part of the South Puget Sound region has been relatively spared of the virus. Only a couple of hundred confirmed cases and a handful of deaths since the whole shebang started. I even ate inside a restaurant for breakfast - Mr. Doug's in Yelm after my successful effort to beat a traffic tix in Shelton. I was pulled over for driving too slowly! Judge said the officer's affidavit did not provide sufficient proof, and the State had the burden of proof. So I celebrated with bacon and eggs! Yum. It's the little things that can be so big in life.

Speaking of life, my mom turned 96 today and a family Zoom session was a complete disaster. Ah, the memories we make.... smile. WE WILL ALL REMEMBER THIS ONE!

Wish Victor 23 brew pub could buy this and incorporate it into
the establishment. Too big. Maybe Dave can use it to build the ultimate 727 sim.

The Raincoat

What happened to DBC's raincoat?

Was he wearing it under the main chute?

Was it discarded, along with all the other stuff - bomb, briefcase, dummy chute, money bag, the yellow cloth sack, etc....

Presumably, he wore it under the parachute.  Tina does not mention him ever removing it and she saw him after he had put on the back pack parachute.

Makes sense, R99.

Just wondering though, since DBC is generally portrayed as simply wearing his business attire while in the plane. I also recall that the tix agent said DBC had the raincoat draped over his arm while in the waiting area. So that means DBC put it on somewhere, and I've never heard anyone say where or when.

My $25,000 DB Cooper Bill Initiative expired last night without a hit leading to an undiscovered Cooper twenty. This, along with other data, leads me to conclude that most of, if not all, of DB Cooper's ransom did not re-enter circulation. In other words, it was never spent.

What does this mean?

Simply put, the money is still out there somewhere waiting to be discovered.
Some men see things as they are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?

Possibly stored in an old F86, that is buried somewhere.

Oh wait!  I see mushrooms, an old Miller Lite can still full, dinosaur bones, and a baseball cap once belonging to none other than - Babe Ruth. It's near a bat cave, so be careful!

And something large, smelly, that likes to climb tall skyscrapers!

I think King Kong or Captain Nautilus has the money.

Or, something related to that! And since the money is all covered in diatoms that means this is all happening in the future-past! Like on the Planet of the Apes.

Trips down beaches to escape something.

The Ingrams escape to Tina Bar!

The eight year old finds the money!

. . .  the obvious message is ?

I thought it was the perfect reply to this: unimaginitively unfunny: Illogical: post by EU!

"My $25,000 DB Cooper Bill Initiative expired last night without a hit leading to an undiscovered Cooper twenty. This, along with other data, leads me to conclude that most of, if not all, of DB Cooper's ransom did not re-enter circulation. In other words, it was never spent."

How does EU's offer: My $25,000 DB Cooper Bill Initiative expired last night without a hit leading to an undiscovered Cooper twenty."  imply     "most of, if not all, of DB Cooper's ransom did not re-enter circulation. In other words, it was never spent."  ?  The two have nothing to do with each other!

How does EU's offer have anything to do with Cooper money entering or not entering circulation, implying it was never spent, or anything else in the DB Cooper case?

EU's offer or experiment, or whatever it is, is on the same level as reading tea leaves, reading palms, imagining, channeling spirits of Mother Mystik, etc.

I thought my post was perfectly clear as it is ridiculous. !  Huh?

So thank you for pointing out that EU's post is illogical, untoward, disconnected, and whatever else applies . . .  ;)

In other words:  EU's offer  is not a valid test of whether Cooper money entered or not entered circulation, implying it was never spent. EU's offer has nothing to do with these other issues! EU's offer is not a valid test of anything !
