Congrats, Lynn, on the birth of your new baby - The Man in 18-E.

But you had to put a four-engined plane on the cover? You know that is gonna drive us CRAZY here....

,... smile. Nevertheless, congrats, and I want to read it as soon as copies are available. DB Cooper and Time Travel? - I am all in on that, baby!

BTW, Lynn, your book is the third DB Cooper book to come out this year that I know about: first was Bill Rollins: The Elusive  DB Cooper. Also, Rick George's, Cooper's Loot, was released at the CooperCon 2019. George is a former newspaper reporter living on the outer bands of the Vortex, but he came into close contact at CooperCon. The book is a fictional detective story, and I haven't read it, yet. But it comes from a legit publisher - Wild Rose Press.

Haha, sorry, publisher had to go with one stock image, design is 100% theirs, and I do like it but never noticed the engines! LOL. I don't even drive cars, so stuff like that flies right by me. I'm glad it's a plane taking off - one of my fave feelings. Feel free to mangle the cover with Sharpie if the engines are driving you crazy! ;)

Thank you so much for your support, and for the links to the other works out this year! Cannot get enough of that D.B.! Will pick them up asap.

It's a 3-book deal so I'm looking at 2 other historical cold cases for the sequels, as the DBC story is only in the first book. Have been researching book 2, but find myself returning to this forum anyway because I will NEVER stop wondering about DBC. Definitely a lifer.  (The other two cases are the 1922 murder of Hollywood director William Desmond Taylor, and I'm not 100% sure about the third as it is a sadder, stranger case, but it's often referred to as the mystery in room 1046, took place in Kansas City in the 1930s - birthplace of modern jazz. It's a case I'm pretty sure will never be solved, unless someone knows an obsessive in KC - though at least in that case ALL the evidence didn't disappear as in the WDT case. But it's got that same WTF??? quality as the other cases - I only get fascinated by certain ones. Serial killers aren't really my bag and I'm trying to keep the books somewhat light.)

For autographed copies please message me as I'll buy some copies in bulk from the publisher in January and send them on to those interested. i don't think my autograph will be worth much, but I'm certainly happy to personalize it for those who've been so integral to the research and so supportive! And I know it's fiction and may not be everybody's cup of tea, so no pressure, just putting it out there, but a million thanks to those who have expressed interest. Many fun hours here debating the compression vs fanning of wads of cash and the psychology of the middle-aged desperado.

Merry Christmas to everyone on the Forum! Hope all are well and ready for a great holiday. xo

This is really great.  There is an info graphic of the timeline of the hijack that is very succinct.  I could spend a few hours looking through all of this.  Here is link to the info graphic  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

A quick once over of the timeline indicates it is incorrect in at least a couple of spots. For example, the note was handed to Flo before the jet took flight. Also, the jet departed Seattle at 7:36 versus 7:33.

Good catch.  I thought he gave the note to her sometime before wheels up, but the exact timing I'm still not sure of.  I can picture him sitting in his seat a little anxious and trying to get the note to Flo.  Can't give it to her too early or the plane might not take off.

New Vortex Spotted

From time to time we Cooperites delve into related mysteries, such as the Amelia Earhart disappearance. Now, a new one is gathering steam - the death of UN General Secretary Dag Hammarskjold in September 1961.

Hulu is playing a fascinating and strange documentary of two guys searching for answers into the circumstances surrounding Hammarskjold's death. He perished in a plane crash at night in central Africa, near the border between the rebellious Katanga Province of the Congo and nearby British Uganda. Besides Hammarskjold, sixteen members of his policy and admin team, plus his security cadre, died with him.

The Hulu broadcast is titled: Cold Case Hammarskjold. Not only do I recommend it, the iconic Roger Ebert website does as well, giving it 4.5 stars out of 5.

Further, the UN General Assembly voted last Friday to extend its investigation into Hammarskjold's death despite the fact that Sweden, the UK, the United States, and other western countries have repeated refused to comply with UN requests for information or to assist in the UN's investigation in any manner. For more on that story, read:

So many of the dynamics that we are grappling with in our investigation of Norjak are on full display in the Hammarskjold case as well. It's fascinating.

One element in the Hammarskjold case that the Hulu investigators derive great benefit, is the testimony of a South African special ops guy who spills the beans on his mercenary outfit that was supposedly hired to kill Hammarskjold to protect corporate and political interests dear to western countries. The last 25% of the docu features his testimony and it is riveting.

Now we need to find our guy in Norjak. When are the principals gonna start talking to us???

For gawds sake!  Bruce, don't go over the cliff with more nonsense about non-existent conspiracies.  Didn't Roger Ebert die about a decade ago?  So this is probably just a rehash of earlier claims that you probably were not aware of.  Surely you have seen enough misinformation and dis-information on the Cooper blogs to know better than to accept at face value the statement of someone 40 or 50 years after the event.  As you should be able to remember, there were just such baseless claims made on this thread about a month ago related to the Cooper hijacking.

Interesting reference, Robert, "going over the cliff..."

I watch NFL highlights every Sunday night and in doing so I'm subjected to 15-second Lexus commercials every few minutes. The one video in constant replay is a young fellow in a wing suit jumping off a cliff that appears to be several thousand feet straight down. "No way would I ever do that," I said to myself last night. "There are a lot more meaningful challenges to engage in life," such as in the pursuit of truth, even if it is 60 years old.

I remember Dag Hammarskjold's death in 1961, and especially how the Kremlin was blamed for it. Now I realize that the perps were a little closer to home.

BTW Robert, I smiled reading how you pierced together your own set of explanations, ie: "it's probably this and probably that, etc."

The knowledge that Hammarskjold's plane was most likely shot down by a Belgian mercenary in the employ of Katangan mining interests has been around for some time. For me, the value of the Hulu docu, Cold Case Hammarskjold, is witnessing the dogged pursuit of the truth - and revealing the scale of the conspiracy against Hammarskjold - by a couple of Scandinavian journalists. Their work is quite remarkable.

I got special access to an old mothballed Boeing 727 today in Tucson. The jet, N7004U was the first 727 delivered to a customer--United. It was the fifth 727 off the assembly line. The jet hadn't been opened for several years. The interior was still intact. It was like stepping back in time.

I studied the airstairs which was very enlightening. I looked at fiberglass sheeting that I think is the same as the airstair skirting that was missing from N467US when it landed in Reno. The sheeting is very thin but is quite rigid, yet flexible. I can easily see how the skirting almost shattered when it broke off from the jet.

Also, I studied the airstair release panel and am of the opinion that DBC had not studied their operation in advance because it was very self-evident and easy. There is no way he would have needed help operating the airstairs if he studied their operation, or the area, in advance.

I also noted that the bulkhead door leading to the airstairs was very light and easy to open. Moreover, once you walk through the bulkhead door you immediately start descending the airstairs themselves. In other words, there was very little space back there. This greatly limits the area where the placard was affixed to the interior wall.

I studied the interior and exterior placards too.

I took several pics and will load them onto my site in the next day or two and provide a link for viewing.
Some men see things as they are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?
