withdraw our offer to publish.

Offer? what happened to the deal or the contract?

didn't catch that line until now... :bravo:

I have a message from Sheridan for you, which he sent to me about an hour ago. He says he registered his copyright in DC, sent them a copy, the usual stuff. He also understands that he already gave AB of Seattle first shot at real publication.

I am glad to see peace on the Sheridan book front.

Sheridan would be angry, no matter who edited, published or distributed his work. Two people offered to help at no
cost but that will not cool him down or earn his gratitude.

Roberts funny. he couldn't even hold the one leg he was standing on with the Peterson saga. the house of cards are once again all over the floor.

I'm guessing that after he read about the DMCA discussion here he realized he had no cards to begin with. I'm sure he was geared up to file a false report and re-thought the move.

He forgot the second rule in a crisis sittuation. 'If you're going to bluff, be prepared to have your bluff called.'

I doubt that RMB is leaving Dodge any time soon, nor the kerfuffle with Snow and Petey's book. He's having his predictable hissy-fit and sent me an email telling me how upset he is, and how he feels betrayed by my publishing a "personal" email, and wants to know what my "agenda" with him.

Here is my response:

********************

My agenda is keeping tabs on you - what you do, how you do it, the whys of it all, and the impacts.

I am a journalist, and I feel you write to me as such. We are not friends. Your emails are not buddy-talk. Rather, they are professional statements. As such, these pieces of correspondence are fair game to be shared in a public forum. My rule of thumb is: "One needs to have confidence in what they say such that it can be written across the sky."

If you don't want me to share with the public what you write me, then don't write me.

My investigation of you is still on-going.

I trust you will have a pleasant relocation to Vista, California, or Arizona.

Bruce

Well if Sheridan is still sending messages to RMB...I guess I'd just say this to Sheridan in case he's reading

"Hey Sheridan, I'm the least nutty of all these guys...especially RMB....I sent you a package, it supposedly went to a parcel locker, so theoretically you got a key to the parcel locker in your mailbox...If you didn't get it (a copy of the book and a letter from me)....please text me, you have my number from May (and I texted you recently but you didn't respond)...I'm not 100% sure of your address"

When the shit hits the fan, there's no such thing as "personal" email in the Vortex.

which is kind of cool...makes everyone act transparently. Or at the very least builds some kind of trust between gladiators.

I think we have a new dimension in the DB Cooper saga. No one ever talks about Kenny Christiansen any more. We only talk about Blevins.

Congratulations, Bob. You're more infamous than your suspect.

No, the third rule is "duck." Which Paul Cini forgot.

OMG! as the kids say..

just checked my email...AND SHERIDAN EMAILED ME.

He says he loves that I put Rimbaud's poem in there. I'm still reading his very nice email.
Thank you Sheridan.

I always have to remind myself...a lot of the interest is just because Sheridan is so outside the box when we think of what we consider "normal" for US citizens..I love that crazy aspect of Sheridan.

So if he says it's a Vietnam documentary that has insight for us to digest, I go with it. One doesn't learn from others by saying "I know more than you"...especially from someone with life experiences that are richer in some ways than others, for better or worse.

He mentions an updated pdf. I'll have to talk to him and see what his thoughts are on an update.

But I'm really happy that I didn't make a 92-year old guy's life worse, and maybe my goal of having him hold some real books with his writing in his hand, is being achieved.

Now to craft a reply....it's always nervewracking talking to Sheridan...:)

I'm not going to share all of Sheridan's message...but I'm glowing at having a cranky old guy start off his email to me this way:

"It was very well done. I especially liked Rimbaud's poem as the prologue. What you did is legal. Although I thought I'd erased it, it was still on Amazon's website, and I am impressed on how well you cleaned things up"

Although I have a few things to clean up (planning on making Lulu site open for orders for the conference), I've got the buzz of  being the imaginary editor for Pynchon, having never physically met him, and getting a telegram saying the result looks good (enough). :)

Boy was I wrong. Sheridan appreciates Snows selfless work. A happy day indeed.

This is good news. Congratulations, Snow, on making contact with Sheridan. I trust the thaw will continue.

For the record, Bobby has sent me two more emails tonight, both brief. They reveal that he is not ready to surrender in his War of Words. One contains a veiled threat and is now in my threat file, along with all the other IC3 docs, FBI correspondence, and stuff from guys like Reichenbach. To wit:

*******

"I never had any intention of giving up on Peterson. It was sort of a test. I had a feeling you wouldn't try to verify. I was right.

"If you don't know what I mean by this, you will."

I'm all for free will. Sheridan can do whatever he wants. It's wonderful.

Blevins seems to think he can control people? Maybe with intense thoughts?
