The DMCA flowchart above, seems to mirror the process Lulu uses to evaluate claims.
So to be more precise, the Lulu process will be used, which seems to mirror the DMCA process above.

Here is Lulu's description of the process we'll apparently engage in.
Note it doesn't give Blevins magic powers that can't be challenged.

Lulu abides by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") which governs how we are to treat claims of copyright infringement.  If someone believes in good faith that a Lulu Account Holder has infringed their copyright, they can request that we take down the infringing material by filing a DMCA Notice.  To file a DMCA Notice with Lulu, you must send us the attached form and supporting materials.  (If you cannot print and send back a faxed or scanned signed Notice, we will email you a text version, which you must fill out and email back to us.)

We reserve the right to ignore a Notice that is not in compliance with the DMCA.  When a clear and valid Notice is received pursuant to the guidelines, we will respond by either taking down the allegedly infringing content or blocking access to it, and we may also contact you for more information.

In addition, under the DMCA, we are required to take reasonable steps to notify the Alleged Infringer, and we will send a copy of the Notice to the Alleged Infringer, who is allowed under the law to send us a Counter-Notification.

If we receive a valid Counter-Notification, we will send you a copy of it and may restore the Allegedly Infringing Content unless we receive notice from you within 10 to 14 business days that a legal action has been filed seeking a court order to restrain the Alleged Infringer from engaging in the allegedly infringing activity.

Took a couple of minutes to find it on the US Copyright Office. Robert could of easily found the information like I did.

Just about every server on the internet works with the DMCA.

I find myself thumbing through books and being much more admiring of things like page layout, and first page of chapter layout.

I realized I really needed space between the header line at the top of each page (and no lines on some more of the intro pages)...
A little tricky figuring out Word handles headers...but now I have a 6 pt space...so that looks better.

besides the actual words, the overall layout is like a little bit of artwork. A bit embarassed it looked a little crowded without the space on proofs.

I will admit, that if a "pro" editor has a lot of "whiz" around unique book, page, and chapter layout...yeah that's skill/knowledge.

Kind of acquired knowledge I guess.

Hi, All - Have been off the forum for a while, some personal stuff (long story) but wanted to drop in with a little anecdotal historical update - a friend of mine, about 50, has just gotten her first job as an FA! I'm so happy for her - love new beginnings at any age, maybe that's why DB has some fascination for me - and remember how in the days of Flo, Tina and Alice, FA's had to retire before their mid-thirties. A bit off the DBC topic, I know, but it made me smile and I though it might make you smile, too. Love the new layout, by the way. Snowflakes here, too... happy Saturday to all. xo

I think it's great that men and women can start a career as flight attendants at 50. Congrats to your friend.

Just got my copy of Sheridan's book from Snow.

Thanks, Snowmman! BTW:

You are correct, the margins could use a little work....

Emails from Bobby B

I've received two emails today from RMB that are germane to the discussions here. Hence, I'm posting them below:

*******************

OTHER NEWS:  Due to the amount of well...baloney...going on with the Sheridan Peterson book thing...I've decided to withdraw our offer to publish. I also saw a post by Snow saying we were doing that to make money. That is not true. After the first $150 for the ISBN, on which Sheridan would receive 50% royalties, he would go to 100% on all versions. And we were covering the $150 upload fees to Lightning Source anyway. No one volunteered to do this for him for money. It was going to actually COST us money. But I see there is just too much argument going on it. Snow can do as he wishes. Basically, when Snow did what he did, he also made Peterson not trust anybody anymore. I am not angry about this situation. I did my best to make it happen for Sheridan, but it was not meant to be. I will trust that your group will not cause discord while we try to assist on the new version of the Cooper Party, as well.

Sincerely, Robert

NEWS:  Just received a message from owner Bryan Ward. Says he's still interested in doing an annual Cooper party next year. Hasn't decided on scheduling yet, but he will. He has accepted our offer of up to a $2,000 budget to provide free BBQ to all attendees. Most of this will be spent at Costco.

He knows you guys are coming, but says unfortunately he will be out of town. He is also aware there is some discord in Cooperland, (don't worry, I didn't feed into that) and says he isn't interested in all that, but reorganizing a new version of the Cooper Day event. Adventure Books will budget and assist on this first party. Get used to it or don't show. Remember...after this first one...you guys will be on your own. I will no longer BE in Washington after 2019. We're moving to Vista, CA or Kingman, AZ...probably Vista. So don't blow it for others. I think we (AB) can get almost everyone who did Ariel to come to Vancouver. Also, we will be shooting this one and doing interviews.

    Sincerely, Robert

Is it me or does that guy post on this site vicariously through you, Bruce?

Yes, in some ways I am a messenger for Bobby B. He sends me about 3-5 emails a day, on average. Every now and then there are some that are germane to the conversation here, so I post them.

If you are having PTSD-like flashbacks when you read his toxicity and nonsense, I commiserate. But, imagine how I feel.... Usually I just delete 'em in a perfunctory manner. But occasionally they contain useful information.

The more threatening ones I now save. I suspect there is a strong likelihood that I might need proof of his shenanigans down the road sometime.

Blevins toiletpapered my house last night and soaped the windows on my car.

I was going to get someone to walk some dogs by his place, and urinate on his grass.

But if he wants peace, then I'll put down the weapons and clean the paper off the trees.

I think it's funny how on the one hand, people paint Sheridan as being this bad-ass expert skydiver...
but then they're willing to toss that and describe him as this fragile creature having problems with trusting people...

for shame!

Roberts funny. he couldn't even hold the one leg he was standing on with the Peterson saga. the house of cards are once again all over the floor.

I'm guessing that after he read about the DMCA discussion here he realized he had no cards to begin with. I'm sure he was geared up to file a false report and re-thought the move.

Well, I just stick to my postive frame of mind and assume I'm acting in a way that Sheridan would appreciate, until I hear otherwise from Sheridan.

Sending the book probably spooked him as well.
