The media push leading up to the 2018 DB Cooper Conference has started in earnest. I released a press release to several media outlets around the region today. Also, Tom Colbert has sent off info to his contacts today. Notably, The Oregonian also mentioned the conference in their DBC article today.

The Cooper Vortex episode 3 is live! The Formans and I talk Barb Dayton.

Its also available on Apple Podcasts, iTunes, Castbox, and the Podbean app. Just search The Cooper Vortex.

While driving to Mississippi today, I had a chance to listen to the first two episodes. The first with Bruce, was very entertaining. The second, not so much, through no fault of yours. I didn't hear anything in that episode that would anyone believe that Jack Collins was Dan Cooper. Bradley Collins obviously didn't want to go into a lot of details that were in the book, because he obviously wants people to buy the book. I'm less inclined to read his book now than I was before listening to this episode.

I'll give the third episode a listen in a couple of days when I travel back to Rocky Top. Even though I consider Bobby Dayton to be a pretty weak suspect, I think the Foremans will be more listenable than Collins.

For those in the Portland/Vancouver area, I just had a FaceTime interview with KOIN about the case and the conference...it will be aired on tonight's 11PM broadcast.

Tina's real name

I just learned today from a DBC sleuth - who wants to remain anonymous for now - that Tina's given name was not Christina, as has been long-thought. Rather, it is now confirmed that Papa Joe named her "Clementine." I saw written confirmation.

Whew.

Papa Joe ?

You are now a member of the family?   Didn't she divorce you! ?

Big day in Cell 51 of H Block today...

Got my 3 proofs of "The Book"
Blevins: kiss my ass. (that's skydiver talk for "hi, how do you do")

I will say, they are beautiful.
The cover came out sized perfectly....the paper and cover weight is wonderful, the type is big enough to read easily.

I think I did a great job. (and fast too!)

I found a better version of Sheridan's head shot on the back cover. Going to use that on new revision before making it fully available.

Going to send one copy to Sheridan, one to 377 and one to Bruce (gratis)

They can show off the hijacked goods at the conference.

Like the poor US attorneys that have to disavow Trump's tweets, I'll leave it to 377 to disavow any of my comments here.

I could take this 6x9 and do hardcover for Sheridan. Probably would want to do a new dust jacket. But I think the paperback looks good and don't want to put more time into it. Also hardcover costs more.

Wow, they look terrific. Sheridan may rage, he rages about many things and anything, but he can't help but admire the fit and finish.

My goal is to get Sheridan to autograph my copy. Talk about a limited edition. Snow, please hand inscribe a series number like "2 of 3", with your signature. Sheridan, of course, gets number 1.

If my wife asks Sheridan for the autograph there is a better chance he will do it. She can put in a good word for Snow who she likes a lot.

Now we can let the pros take over. Blevins can proceed with a professional publication and distribution program. I will buy his version too and seek his and Sheridan's autograph.

A joyous day. Sheridan's work will endure.

Let me pay for my copy Snow so you can send a check to Sheridan? For a very limited edition, does $50 sound good?

Had I tried to personally fulfill Sheridan's expressed wish for publication it would have been some xeroxed pages of his manuscript PDF stapled together with a crude color copy of his commissioned painting on the front. This is soooo much better.

Blevins just might take a pass on this. He claims to have blocked Lulu which, if true, thwarts easy online publication by Snow. Three hard copies isn't really going to get any lawyers or US Attorneys fired up. Let's see what Blevins does before we criticize. He is pretty busy with the movie project.

Yeah, it was hard to get a high resolution image of the cover.

The one in the pdf I distributed were distorted. I tried correctly unstretching them, but the best image was one I had saved from 2008 from the original Lulu publication. I used that (with some touchup)

I suspect even Sheridan couldn't find an image as good as what I put on the cover.

The image I didn't use, from the unstretched image in the original pdf, had the artist's full name visible on the bottom right, but it's too obscure to make out. I always wondered who did it for Sheridan.
