So what do you think, Mark? Did Russell teach himself EVERYTHING on purchased simulators and practiced at home?
What are people saying at Horizon? Have you heard all the crazy Q Anon stuff about a secret missile base on Ketron Island?
What does a tow team driver know about the cockpit of a Q400? Does he drive it? Turn on the lights and hydraulic systems? Etc.
What's your view on a remote controlled crash?
Honestly, I can't say I know any more than anyone else. Most of my information came from the media.
I don't work at the airport, and I didn't know Richard Russell. We got an alert a little before the media got it (not much, a few minutes). Honestly, my first thoughts were a 9-11 type situation. Then, if not that, were there passengers aboard. Just scary stuff.
He was authorized to move a plane -- which I assume means he could drive it. Once he got close to a runway, I assume a simulator would be enough to get him to take off.
There are so many rules to keep everything safe, and I still don't know what could have been done. The area was secure. He was allowed to be there and enter the plane.
So, I don't know. Even though I never met him, a company is like a family and it feels like losing one of your own.
