Anyone know the legalities of what would happen to D.B. Cooper's heirs if the case was closed?  For example, if he's dead, and in his will he left money, or left a house, etc.  Could the government say the house was bought with stolen money and then take money from the heirs, even if they had no idea that their relative was D.B. Cooper?  I assume the heirs could probably make some good money on film or book rights, but could the IRS say they owe the money their father/grandfather/uncle etc. stole?
I would think that it was stolen money so it should be returned. The government would have to reopen the case it's closed without being solved.

didnt know it was "closed". legally closed. investigation suspended but not closed legally.

I might be mistaken, but I thought that they said it's closed unless somebody has money or a parachute. I will research that and post what I find.

It is administratively closed is what I finding, unless physical evidence turns up that connect to the hijacker such as the parachute or money.

Closing the case would put a win on the books, and probably cut down on a lot of the tips the FBI gets.  I was mainly wondering what would happen to relatives who unwillingly benefited from their relative's crime.  If I inherit stolen property, I would have to give it back.  If I inherit a house that was bought with ransom money from a hijacking, would I have to give it up? Or pay taxes?

The cash would be seized.  Primary residence real property proven purchased with the loot likely would not, unless they somehow prove the heirs knew of the caper, and 'aided and abetted a fugitive', in which case maybe the Homestead Law can be blown through... but if minors were involved (grandkids) living in a house, they wouldn't touch the primary home, but all bets are off for vacation homes, etc.

I don't see where they have a case to take anything away..they need the bills as proof that were used to purchase anything..even if the house was Cooper's they would have to prove it was bought with money from the hijacking. the money would be long gone if he actually used it decades ago, or even ten years ago..it's still nowhere to be found..

I need to clarify something Georger posted from me on TMN. Atlas productions was here several years ago..that email is from that time period..the show never left the table..they wanted to do a year long series with a panel of 4 members. I tried to tell them it wouldn't work but they did there thing and it failed..I was under the impression most knew this but forgot we have so many new members so I apologize for any false excitement this might of caused..

the post was something I used to show Mr. Blevins he was "bypassed" for one of the 4 members that wold have been on the panel..all 4 members were from this forum..a thread can still be found about parts of what they were doing...

I am glad that he was bypassed. IMO he seems like he wants to be the one person in charge of everything DB Cooper related.

I fixed your post...that's why you see my name on it...just letting ya know...

the whole thing is sad when discussing Mr. Blevins..he has some issues that he doesn't seem to know about, even when multiple people tell him..he's just stuck in that mode 24/7. he will never change..it gets to the point of being lost for words to be honest...

What does Blevins really want!

A movie about himself - the super hero!   The guy who stood up to everyone and everything, even the truth and won! :chr2:   :bravo:

  Blevins was looking for a worm to ride. He will now claim it was 8 Clydesdales a breast! Most Clydesdales live to 20-25 years of age. Holy shit. We have just started this comedy!  :o

How much detail has been released about passengers, crew members, and airline/airport personnel?  Is every one of the passengers accounted for? Pictures? Names verified, addresses verified?  Some investigators assumed he had help, maybe even from an employee.  However, if they never found DB Cooper, then they don't know how to find similarities between him and others (related, worked together, served together, lived near each other).

I'm not trying to start a conspiracy discussion, but it is standard practice to vet out all witnesses and relatives.  Am I safe in assuming it was done?  The descriptions were all over the place, the composites were all over the place.  Maybe he didn't act alone.  For the record, I definitely do not think Flo, Bill Mitchell, or Ratazack were involved.

And ... what of the interviews that have been made public so far? Is that everything? No real Q&A in any of the interviews made public. There has to be more - ??  ???

Where does a "green" paper bag come from? Greeny's Hardware? Green's Donuts? The Green Room at Boeing?  :-\
