I made several attempts to contact them maybe 8-9 months ago. I never got any response. I wouldn't doubt some of the jumpers who never posted, or did in the past has had a hand in the complaints. the whole thing reminds me of the show "Happy Days" that show went way past it's point of cancellation. they didn't try and remove the problems, or try and repair them.

The show "Two And A Half Men" did the same. once Charlie was gone, it just wasn't the same, and then the kid turns into a man, which turns it into " 3 Grown Men"  ;D :D ;)

Well, lets just let it go. I don't think celebrating the lose will do any good for anyone. it's unfortunate, but as I mentioned, the writing was on the walls for some time now. I always felt as if I was intruding into the sport of skydiving by not being one myself. that was another reason I started this forum. hopefully it will remain just as the other locked thread has over the years, so information can still be accessed.

I don't mind discussing the news, but lets keep the remarks down a notch.

Thanks

I do need to grieve the passing of the DZ, though. It was a great place in its day, and I learned a ton o' stuff about DBC there. Larry's contributions were invaluable.

In the DZ's latter years, it evolved into a kind of comic book that I loved to read over my first cup of coffee, or late at night as the world gets very quiet. In some ways it was my "People" magazine to the "National Geographic" that this forum appears to be.

lol.. I like your analogy -   I will miss it, but I do think it had outlived its usefulness.

It is ironic that one of the main people responsible for it closing has now started and seems to be in charge of the "dropzone replacement" google group and is using that moniker to gain members. Was that the ultimate motive for trashing the thread or have I been reading too much Bruce Smith??  ;D ;D
Nothing against RB personally, but that kind of kills it for me. I just find it hard to believe that it won't turn into the RB and KC forum.

Not to say it was just him that trashed the dz thread -- it wasn't -- it is hard not to play into pissin contests, and, some do better at ignoring hubris and bs (that's small case bs) than others, AND, hey, I believe some actually like the endless sparring. But, face it, he gave as good as he got and was a primary reason that a lot of people just quit posting and a prime reason for much of the bickering. I don't know - but when someone is known as a "venom magnet" there is usually a good reason.

And that's all I've got to say on the subject because I don't want this to revert to a RB bashing forum.  Sometimes you have to just say what you're thinking, and I did that so now I can move on. I'd rather talk about Cooper or naked Xingu tribesmen from the Village of Yawalapiti.    ;D

Tell us about these naked Xingu at Yawalapiti? Did the Pharaoh Neptiptutah conquer them too in 300 BCE?

lol. who the hell knows. I think they might still be around. Just channeling Bruce's nat'l geo remark.  :D

Been following a CNN series on the archaeology of Israel ... first mention of an Israel is by some Egyptian Pharoh who went to wipe out trouble makers in Canaan and encountered a people named Israel in the Highlands above Canaan, and writes on the Merneptah Stele: "their seed is no more" meaning they no longer exist. Never mind...

I've received some interesting information from Miss Jo today.

She claims that she was largely responsible for shutting down the DZ forum. In fact, she claims she asked Sangria six months ago to do so, and that recently she orchestrated the closing with Sangria's help. Specifically, he waited until she had her "FBI file" ready to go before he shut things down.

Now, this may simply be a case of Jo piggybacking again onto someone's else's story, but Sangria's last post did catch my eye as it came a bit after a juicy post from Jo.

I wouldn't doubt it. I'm sure she PM'd numerous (lots) of times. I'm still getting emails from her. I received two the day they shut DZ down, or locked it....

I think Farf was on DZ a while ago under the name of Yellow something, I can't remember, but he started to sound like Farf.

Unfortunately Jo is banned from here. this goes back to the start of this forum. then she said some rather nasty things that were completely false about Vicki. the first problem was between Jo & Bruce. perhaps she can find some peace now.

I still think the Ingram DBC money discovery is either incredibly lucky or we don't know all the facts.

None of it makes any sense, but why would we have a different story to this? this would mean lots of others involved with the money, or Cooper.

Now, we do have multiple stories from the Ingram's....

It's your forum Mr. Shutter so you can make the rules, but Jo is an old ill woman who desperately needs a DBC forum. I hope you will consider giving her a conditional re-admission. Old people really need a social connection and I fear that the DZ forum was the entirety of her social world. Give it some thought. It would be an act of kindness to give her another chance. She might behave and if she did not you could permaban her.

I emailed Yellow and he gave a very convincing answer denying that he was Farflung... but Farflung is clever enough to fool 377 any day.
