As I mentioned, I don't mind discussing it. I was part of it too. it was the first place I discussed anything about Cooper. I was a greenhorn coming in. I always liked the case, but never dug into it until I read about Marla. that's when I chimed in on the DZ. I remember the first response I got was from Georger making fun of my username  ;) ;)

I found it.....

Well, lets just let it go. I don't think celebrating the lose will do any good for anyone. it's unfortunate, but as I mentioned, the writing was on the walls for some time now. I always felt as if I was intruding into the sport of skydiving by not being one myself. that was another reason I started this forum. hopefully it will remain just as the other locked thread has over the years, so information can still be accessed.

I don't mind discussing the news, but lets keep the remarks down a notch.

Thanks

I do need to grieve the passing of the DZ, though. It was a great place in its day, and I learned a ton o' stuff about DBC there. Larry's contributions were invaluable.

In the DZ's latter years, it evolved into a kind of comic book that I loved to read over my first cup of coffee, or late at night as the world gets very quiet. In some ways it was my "People" magazine to the "National Geographic" that this forum appears to be.

lol.. I like your analogy -   I will miss it, but I do think it had outlived its usefulness.

It is ironic that one of the main people responsible for it closing has now started and seems to be in charge of the "dropzone replacement" google group and is using that moniker to gain members. Was that the ultimate motive for trashing the thread or have I been reading too much Bruce Smith??  ;D ;D
Nothing against RB personally, but that kind of kills it for me. I just find it hard to believe that it won't turn into the RB and KC forum.

Not to say it was just him that trashed the dz thread -- it wasn't -- it is hard not to play into pissin contests, and, some do better at ignoring hubris and bs (that's small case bs) than others, AND, hey, I believe some actually like the endless sparring. But, face it, he gave as good as he got and was a primary reason that a lot of people just quit posting and a prime reason for much of the bickering. I don't know - but when someone is known as a "venom magnet" there is usually a good reason.

And that's all I've got to say on the subject because I don't want this to revert to a RB bashing forum.  Sometimes you have to just say what you're thinking, and I did that so now I can move on. I'd rather talk about Cooper or naked Xingu tribesmen from the Village of Yawalapiti.    ;D

Robert, and Jo will really go at it now! I also noticed he has a section for suspects, plural, and not singular  ;D :D ;) if I didn't know any better, he's trying to follow the way this thread is built, and the final note, it's no longer a HUGE problem being perma banned  :D

Let's see what happens.......

I just signed up on the new thread.  It sounds legit and I think it will be "Lepsy" friendly.  Thoughts?

I can't tell you what to do one way, or the other. I understand you are trying to seek out avenues for Lepsy, so, that's your decision, and yours alone.....

It's difficult to know what to say. I agree about 'let it go'. I came to that conclusion and did that personally a number of months ago, but it did no good! Now it's over. The whole thing is perplexing. Ive never seen or been a part of anything like that ... in my life.

Nothing else to say!

Whatever happened to "Moriarty"?  He kind of fell off the face of the earth around here.

He closed out his membership. he continued to talk with R99, or Georger off the forum. perhaps they have a better idea?

I dont know either - maybe he will be back - he certainly is welcome!

It must have been Georger.  I don't think it was me.

Robert99

Don't get me wrong G, I just meant we need to hold back on the bashing. we can discuss the closing all nite long, I don't have a problem with that, or who caused it as long as we do it in a civil manner. lets remain above the levels they stooped too.....

We have shown them that we can discuss Cooper without the constant bickering. we have proven that many times over.

Tell us about these naked Xingu at Yawalapiti? Did the Pharaoh Neptiptutah conquer them too in 300 BCE?

RB will find out that Google Groups has a much stricter policy than DZ. He's had a Cooper discussion group open at AB Books for years and nobody went there either! Why would his two fans go to Google Groups now?

What's the name of his Google Group? I am the Mod of five Google Tech groups and have subscribed to six others for years. If he starts using my name at Google Groups - he is gone!

OK no problem, so let me say this. One basic problem at DZ was no Mod had the time to 'moderate' the nuts at the forum. It got completely out of control. Sangiro mentions handling complaints from the people posting at DZ? Cant be me. I havent been there for a year. My guess it the majority of those PM's (complaints about other posters)  were from just two people? If only two people can overwhelm a Mod, then what chance does the thread have! None. During my whole tenure at DZ I am willing to bet I did not send a total of "12" PM's to a Mod or Sangiro the whole time - in all of those years. Sp PM's to Mods weren't from me! I just sat and sat and sat and posted and posted and posted and waited for the 'shoe to drop' as months/years went by. And of those "12" PMs I probably sent, 4 or 5 or those were in the last week I was there trying to get someone to take my account down! I realised clear back in 2009 the thread was hopeless and the FBI would never come back.

Case closed.
