Greetings Cooper colleagues:
It's been a long time, and I have truly missed y'all at the forum these past couple of years. I had a serious eye condition that needed immediate and long-term attention. That's under control, my eyesight has been restored, for the most part. A true miracle. I am grateful.
I had an absolute great time this past weekend at Ariel and with R99 and Bruce at the Tina Bar Travel Channel shoot. What's this "deer in the headlights comment" R99? Ha. Was I that nervous? Maybe so. I am hoping we pulled it off and I did right by you guys at Tina Bar.
At Ariel, I talked at length with Bryan, he took me around and showed me all the things he wants to do to turn the Ariel structure into a memorial for his mother Dona (his main objective, I might add) and all the remodeling that will occur to change the building into a museum-type setting. Serving booze is part of that plan, according to Bryan. The Ariel crowd was sparse last Saturday, unfortunately, but I still had a good time. I even got up and sang a song with the band. They missed a lot of the chords, but so what. It was still fun. They were good kids and we all tried to make the best of it. Got to meet the Travel Channel, Expedition Unknown folks there too. And I bought an old painting at the auction -- one of Dona's from the old store. It appeared the auction was a successful fund raiser.
Now, listen to this: I had a nice, cordial conversation with Robert Blevins. We haven't seen each other in like 3-4 years. He cooked hot dogs and hamburgers, I sat next to him, ate several hotdogs, and we talked about a lot of things. Blevins and I have turned over a new leaf. We have let by-gonres be by-gones. I have no problem with Robert. He's put a lot of time, effort, and some funds into helping out with the Ariel restoration. I cannot, and will not, find fault with that or Blevins himself. In fact, I have offered to help out in any way I can. It's time to get along and work together.
The Travel Channel shoot on Sunday at Tina Bar was an incredible experience. A bucket list experience for me. I have never been in front of a camera before, but I did my best for all my Cooper colleagues. I hope it turns out okay. Josh Gates is one energetic, competent guy!. It was a pleasure standing side by side with Bruce and Robert. It's always fun when we go to Tina Bar. This is my 4th trip now, I think, in total.
I love getting in my pickup and taking a drive to Cooper country. It always turns up something fun, interesting, or exciting. I have read most of the books, many many posts and emails about our buddy Cooper, but nothing takes the place of actual, real research, in the field, up close.
It's so good to be back. I have missed you all. I look forward to studying, researching, and discussing all-things-Cooper.
