I was not one who was looking for Cooper, but if someone had mentioned D B Cooper, I would have associated the name with the guy that jumped out of a jet with a ransom and would have a mental image of the composite with the sunglasses.  I recently found myself in an unenviable position of trying to figure out who someone was, that, by all indicators, had a very dark and secretive past.  This is how I connected with you folks.  I did my research and, in part, with your help here on the Forum, have vetted the information I have come into possession of.  I found a mistake in my work with the Forums help, but as stated previously, I have found a new candidate who matches the physical description and profile of the fugitive Cooper.

It has become an overwhelmingly heavy burden the hostility from the authorities and knowing of the vast number of people out there who would want to see for themselves this new candidate.  I would enjoy some knowledgeable company.

Hostility from LE and the Powers That Be is familiar territory, as is the anxiety that can arise from those dynamics. When I was writing for the Pierce County Dispatch, 2006-2010, and delving deeply into the murk and mire of county politics and local scandals, I realized my life was truly at risk. One day, while walking down my driveway to the mail box, I made a firm decision that I would not let that fear cause me to veer away from investigating whatever I felt was worthy and true.

"If some else want's to take me out, that's their choice, their decision. It's not mine," said to myself out-loud, "and I will not live in fear." I've been writing and digging ever since. A pang or two of fear pops up every now and then, but nothing that I can' handle.

So, c'mon and join the club.

Also, try not to second guess what Bill M. told you about Cooper.  If I am looking at the same person, his memory serves him well.  Look closely at the “A” composite neck, it is almost perfect in placement and appearance (turkey gobble).  It could easily be dismissed as an Adams Apple, but it is a fleshy appendage that moves around independently of the throat tissue or Adams Apple.  “B” composite shows it but looks more like scar tissue in that composite.  I am most envious, what I would give to have a sit-down chit-chat with someone who saw Cooper with their own eyes.

I spoke with Lee Dormuth for five minutes, twice, on his front stoop, but I was never invited inside or offered a cup o' tea. Flo is unresponsive, phone, emails, snail mail. Alice hung up on me. Andy Anderson - well, I don't have his contact information. And Tina, well, I'm just relieved that the nuns didn't call the cops on me...

But Michael Cooper has invited me to stop by his place, and Dorwin Schroeder invited me to Montana to go skiing with him, so there is hope.

Dont take this the wrong way but thanks for a humorous recitation!  I think your journalistic review is more common than you would like to think. I think Hemingway could have written that, but of course he's dead!

Ah, yes, what is the truth of Life in a Reporter's World? Who actually talks to us? Not everybody, that is for sure, and I am not alone in terms of a dearth of face-to-face chit-chatting.

Geoffrey is a case in point - he had unlimited access to the FBI, it seems, but who else did he actually talk with? He says Flo sat down with him, and maybe that is true, but it can't be confirmed. Bill Mitchell says that he doesn't remember talking to Geoff, and GG gave me the phone number to the wrong William Mitchell, so I wonder if the two ever talked, let alone chatted in person. Geoff is also a big fan of Robert Gregory, but GG seemed just as surprised as I was to meet members of "Uncle Bob's" family at the 2013 Symposium, so...

As for Tina, Geoff writes a heartfelt account of their too brief phone conversation, but at least she didn't hang up on him. As for Alice, GG has never said a word, and I doubt they have ever spoken to each other.

Tosaw writes a lot about what Tina said, but I have strong reservations that any of her commentary was actually spoken by Ms. Mucklow. I suspect that Richard filled in a lot of her missing dialogue from his FBI notes and personal speculations, since Bill Rataczak says he worked with Tosaw and that Tina's memory was shot.

Calame says the same thing, essentially.

Himms didn't talk to anybody, which says a LOT about Ralph - and Norjak.

So much secrecy tied-up in all this.  Seems like just enough information released to the public to generate tips, but so much held back.  Then, radio silence.  Is the conspiracy theory true that his identity was known all along, and all of this may be a test of public awareness?

When the Gods frowned upon me and got me all knotted up in this fiasco, I had faith that his identity was sought.  Why else would the Statute of Limitations be repealed for this crime in 1976, and the case reinvigorated in the public eye in 2007.  It could have died in 1976 and faded away into the forgotten.  Or why not railroad some poor sucker into a conviction so the authorities could puff out their chests and say “we got him” as happens far too often in our world.  But they didn’t -- they have admitted publically for 44+ years that they were stumped and needed public help to “shake something loose”.  That to me was a sign of integrity and gave me hope that some parts of the system still functioned. 

This Cooper stuff is not for the faint of heart, too much funny business.

I would be burnt at the stake if I provided a photo.  The opportunity for a public viewing of the entire dossier approaches though.  I will keep you informed of the progress in that regard.  I want to show it more than anyone wants to see it.  However, for now, with existing composite drawings you can picture in your mind’s eye his current appearance.  Create an age enhanced composite to 2016 (i.e. aged 44 years from 1971)

Start with “A” composite without sunglasses as a base

Use:
“B” comp nose
Shading on bridge of nose from “A” comp
Jowls, mouth, nasolabial folds, chin, and skin tone from 1999 age enhanced comp
Clothing from 1999 comp
Eye style from 1988 TV comp
Hairline from Sluggo’s morphed comp
Sunglasses from “B” comp

Modify:
Add grey hair
Eyes slightly closer set
Reduce distance ÂĽ from bottom lip to bottom of chin
Sink cheeks similar amount as 1988 TV comp

Feel free to use imagination with hats and facial hair that would be becoming of a distinguished soft-spoken elderly geek.
