It's possible I may of found a stairwell with the placard on the wall. these people with camera's need to be shot. they all pan past the control box or walk up and down the stairs with the camera pointing downward. video after video of this occurring. not one video shows the box. it's like it's not there.

Anyway as stated, this video also pans right past it making it hard to catch a screenshot. the idiot zooms right in on everything else in the stairwell. it only shows the top left corner but appears to be about the same size?

He just called back after about two hours of research and stated it is an interior placard affixed on the inside by the aft door.

Only Cooper knows. they didn't go all the way down and it appeared to confuse him. it's possible they hit turbulence and he noticed them move up and down then decided to step on them...who knows....

The guy was trapped in the air and in the back of a plane...criminal don't like that. you feel caged and want out.

we still don't know if he pulled the emergency handle. this should of led them to knowing the placard was missing that evening or when they fixed the stairs. it appears they attempt to try and show reasoning by saying the placard came off during testing. this was years later. nether action was documented in any 302 to date. they imply two placards were replaced on 305. one with Cooper and the other in testing...

Of note:

When I asked R99 to re-analyze the drift of the Hicks' placard based upon updated estimates for the size and weight of the placard, I asked him to assume the surface area was 24 inches squared and the weight was about .33 ounces--as best I can recall. I'm not certain that he actually utilized the .3 ounce weight though--for some reason I recall the utilized assumed weight to be .5 ounces. In either case the drift analysis came to about 8 SM.

Now that I have the actual placards in hand, I have been able to refine the surface area and weight of the Hicks' placard. The surface area is about 27 inches squared and the weight is about .15 ounces.

Factoring in these updated parameters, they appear to bolster the theory that the placard drifted quite a distance upon separation from the jet before it landed on the ground.

How many different variations of the emergency handle were done? not all 727-100's had the system. 63 had modifications in order to have them. FJ shows a safety card explaining how to use the system but no mention of an access door?

I assume the two-hole panel is the access door being referred to on the placard.

Also, note that the instructions state to "pull on red handle." On the exterior placard related to emergency airstair use it exclaims "push red handle up." In other words, an entirely different motion.
