The stairs operate on hydraulic B. if the system is not functioning then you can hand pump the pressure to raise or lower the stairs. no pull handles are on the outside of the 727...different placards are on the door underneath the plane.

The emergency handle is behind a small panel next to the normal stair release. you pull the panel off and you will see the handle to pull to activate the emergency function...writing is on the small panel.

And the only reason for excitement and claims about this socalled 'placard' is trying to use the placard to justify a west path. We all understand that. It's like watching and listening to Houdini and his cast doing the water trick with drama and Ballyhoo. Its three-penny-opera for the masses.

Georger, you need to get a good night's sleep.  The world will probably look different tomorrow.  But try as you might, you will never be able to prove that the Unabomber was Cooper.  You need to start facing the facts in this matter.

If EU has drawings based on some authoritative source - let him post them! It's very simple. We have had a litany of photos presented by multiple people. It doesn't seem to have cleared anything up so far.

FLYJACK keeps insisting the decals recovered on the ground are (a) thin decals not plastic signs and (b) attached to the outside of the aircraft near the stairs not inside, and (c) generic instructions used on multiple different aircraft ? We also have multiple decals not just one presumed to be from 305 alone. All associated with V23, not some west path.

Why dont you address the facts for a change !    ;D

I think the stairs can be raised or lowered from outside the aircraft.  I think there is a panel on the underside of the fuselage and adjacent to the stairs that can be opened to reveal the switch, or whatever it is, to operate the stairs.

I have no idea if there is an external decal connected with that.  Didn't EU's earlier posts mention NWA personnel in Minneapolis making drawings to illustrate where the decal would be located?

Correct. the access panel is on the right side of the stairs under the plane. a lever can be used to raise and lower. if the hydraulics fail a pump is there to take over. they provided the FBI with drawings showing where the decals were located.

The placard found by Hicks is a decal. a lot of placards are decals vs plastic...

Thats pretty clear. 

Apparently the FBI or somebody has multiple decals found on the ground ?  Were they all found in the same area - which would be extraordinary if that's the case ?

Keep in mind the stairs itself is considered "outside" the emergency release is in two places.

I guess decal means a thin plastic foil of some kind, with adhesive on the back ? They probably deteriorate over time and peel off with wind resistance etc ... and since V23 was a high use route one would expect to find pieces of these decals on the ground, somewhere. Have any of these decals been found on the ground under the 'west path' route ?

I doubt if anything "plastic" would be placed on the exterior of the aircraft.  My guess is that any decal for operating the exterior stairs from the ground would be placed on the inside of the access door so that it could be referred to by the individual operating the stairs.

Lets have a placard roundup. All possible photos of all possible rear stair placards-markers-decals on all possible planes since the Wright Bros glider ....... all part numbers ....... all uses ........ all places and positions mounted on an airplane.

Blimps and hydrogen filled balloons from the 1700-1800's do not count.

Each candidate allowed ten minutes . . .  :rofl:

I will start with this photo! I havent the faintest idea what plane it came from or where on a plane it was! Good luck!

all the placards I've seen related to the stairs are decals inside and out. none are in a plastic form that would be entirely different to these placards.
