Colbert and his team of experts claim that the tie was planted.. picked up used and just happened to have those RARE particles on it.

How can anyone justify that view.. what would be the motivation or purpose?

Of course it is pure speculation, but it doesn't even make sense..

That's the way it works in Cooperville. If it don't fit your guy, just say it's a plant.  :)

Or say it is:

Hair dye
Toupee
Sun tan
Sun tan lotion
Shoe lifts
Witnesses were traumatized and could not give an accurate description.

I am sure the list could go on.......and on..... :-\

Vicki and Vol are right. It's so common here and I'm not immune.
If the evidence doesn't match your DBC candidate then
apply force to the evidence. Morph the evidence. Brown eyes were contracts. Age was vastly oveeestimated.
Olive complexion was makeup.

Mitchell has forgotten a lot but the turkey gizzard recollection seems to be original. The context in which it was observed was contemporaneous jealousy and scorn. In that context it doesn't seem
like something that later entered his thinking and distorted an accurate memory.

Mel Wilson sure had a turkey gizzard. Peterson didn't, he was and still is a lean guy. I don't think Rackstraw had one either. If really seen and recalled accurately thats useful evidence. There are no "contacts" or common makeup for creating fake turkey gizzards.

There are so few concrete facts in the Cooper case that speculation to advance, explore or test an hypothesis is a valid tool. There are some things we don't know and can never know. You always need reasoned inference and speculation to fill the gaps and the Cooper case has huge gaps.

but beyond no evidence, I can't even think of a reason for the hijacker to plant the tie. Colbert is citing multiple experienced and credentialed experts for the plant theory. Clearly, it means he doesn't need to explain the tie particles.

Can anyone even think of a reasonable motive for planting the tie.

IF it were a covert job by the CIA, then brown contacts are more than plausible.

And to Flyjack.... Leaving the tie could be as simple as this... It was a clip on and had he left it on it'd be flying upward in his face upon descent from the gust  and he was smart enough to realize it   For this reason he had to chuck it.  He was going through the process of preparation and realized it'd be in his face.    This should settle it.
If you don't buy this, and you should...A far less but plausible reason would be leaving it as a symbolic big FU to whoever his grudge was against, even if it was against the system that may be suppressing him in his mind. The dude had balls to do this and I would figure he wasn't fully rational with some things.

I can see the hijacker leaving it on the plane. Colbert and his team of experts claimed it was an intentional plant to throw of the "FBI", that doesn't make sense.

Where to dump an unwanted clip-on tie during a skyjacking:

1. Stick it in the briefcase.
2. Give it to Tina as a souvenir.
3. Throw it out the door.
4. Wrap it in toilet paper and throw it in the trash can.
5. Tie it to the bundle of stuff that was going out the door, such as the reserve chute with the X on it.
6. Tie it to the handle of the money bag clinch so it wouldn't chaff his hands.
7. Tie it around one shoe so that he is not totally barefoot on the ground.
8. Tuck it into the empty laminate pouch on the door since the instructional card was gone.
9. Wrap it around the crew's dinner to keep it a little warmer.
10. Smear hot sauce and gravy on it, and then place it next to the crew dinners so the German Shepherds go nuts.

Just sayin'...

or.... after Cooper going through all the issues to get ready for the jump, especially creating a makeshift carrier for the cash, at the end of it he realizes its minor annoyance and thinks "I don't need this tie" and grabs it and chucks it off, rather than taking storage space, which was quite limited.  In fact, that tena money could have been the three bundles he pulled to give to Mucklow, and when she wouldnt take it, he stuffs it in his pocket.  Or it didnt fit in bag and he was stuffing his pockets with bundles of cash. The tie wasn't needed, it would have been an annoyance, so he chucks it.

Diclemeg:  You say "or.... after Cooper going through all the issues to get ready for the jump, especially creating a makeshift carrier for the cash, at the end of it he realizes its minor annoyance and thinks "I don't need this tie" and grabs it and chucks it off, rather than taking storage space, which was quite limited.  In fact, that tena money could have been the three bundles he pulled to give to Mucklow, and when she wouldnt take it, he stuffs it in his pocket.  Or it didnt fit in bag and he was stuffing his pockets with bundles of cash. I say: "you are close to DB wanting a place to stuff the three bundles and down the neck of his shirt was good but the tie was in the way. It was easy to remove and he did not need it anyway, so he pulls the clip on tie off and sets it by his seat. No big deal and then when on the ground he gives the three bundles to Dwayne Ingram thanking him for the ride to PDX Portland. Then Dwayne puts it in a hole he makes on Tina Bar for his son Brian to find by pointing to where he should clear a place "here not there" per his disclosure in  the History Channel 4hr program interview. "Just follow the money trail"
