Dan Cooper stuck in tree...

also part of German language re-release

Vielen Dank für all diese neuen Infos!

I ran across a random image from a Dan Cooper comic (don't know which one it came from) but I matched the exact image to a location approximately 100 miles from the FBI search zone, up toward MT Rainier, a 100% match to that spot..

Random image? Random search?

Where did you find this? Is there a webpage associated with it? Something to validate that it is from a Dan Cooper comic. Date?

The Cooper comic image was just a background flash in a french video about Dan Cooper comics I had downloaded a while ago, and I screen grabbed it. It is 100% a Dan Cooper comic image. I don't know the date, that is what I am trying to pin down, as I mentioned before I have a bunch of Cooper and Tintin comics ordered, maybe a week out.. hope it is in one of them. The image doesn't claim any particular location but it is a real location within 100 miles of the Hijacker DZ..

If before the hijacking then WOW, if after then why, it doesn't have any location attribution.

Rather than looking for a needle in a haystack have you contacted Weinberg etal and asked them?

Weinberg died long ago, but I need to establish context and find that comic "cell image" in its Dan Cooper story, maybe there are more locations in there or some explanation?

I have a working theory supported by much more evidence than I've shown here, but finding this comic may really pull everything together.

Boom, I went back and carefully scanned the video and found a second Dan Cooper comic image that is from a real location about half a mile from the first one..  that's two within 100 miles of the Hijacker DZ

What happened to Larry Carr, did he retire or transfer?

Any contact info,, pm me

While we're waiting, care to speculate what it would mean either way?  DBC knew someone or was associated with the comic?  Or it was done afterward to 'spoof' the actual event?  There must be a story that goes with it?

Why would it be a spoof vs simple historical background based on real world events?  These people arent trying to make news - rather working from it.  They obviously were following the Cooper hijacking as they have already stated years ago ... Carr contacted Weinberg and talked to him on the premise Weinberg or his associates might havre some idea who Cooper was ...

Sorry, spoof was the wrong word, I realized that after I posted.

Just rec'd in the mail my first Tintin mag from 1970 with "l'affaire minos" the Dan Cooper story highlighted by the FBI that takes place in Greece.  Only the last two pages of the story are in it, turns out the story is spread out over 17 Tintin mags. I have ordered them all to compare to the later versions..

L'affaire Minos was in fact first published in 1970 in Tintin prior to the hijacking, then re-published in a Dan Cooper book in 1974, then republished in Integrale No 7 (2002?) with 3 other stories then republished again in 1981 in German with the rear door jumper cover.

I say:  "I think you are on to something with the Dan Cooper mags. How many sports skydivers in the 1960 - 1970's saw the comicbooks"?  Peterson would have been able to read them in French as he had some practice as an English major at the U of Mo and had to take another language. I could speak a little French with him in the month he lived at my home. I tried to send you a photo of Sheridan dress exactly like DB and before Norjak and the photo was from the Boeing news files. He also did some demo jumps dressed just like DB including the loafer shoes. I would post the photo here but the file size is too big and I don't know how to reduce it.

So, the stand alone Dan Cooper comics were published after the hijacking, the infamous FBI's "L'affaire Minos" was actually in the French Tintin series spread through 1970.. not really available in the US. So, I don't think the hijacker was a "Dan Cooper" fan per se, but may have been influenced by the story exposed in Tintin. He would have had to have read Tinitin in 1970, Dan Cooper was a small part of that mag. If there is a connection it would have to be through exposure to ALL 18 of the 1970 Tintin mags for the full story.

Sailshaw, If you send me the pic I can resize it..

I found this image of a jet with the rear stairs down, it is from "L'affaire Minos" not sure what year/version. I still haven't received the full set/version..

Is that Bruce or Georger out on the Tarmac.. don't have my reading glasses handy..
