I'm gonna have to figure out how to get listed in those categories. Another cyber mountain to climb. Sigh.

one solution: email Amazon directly to ask them to add your book to your chosen categories. Just head to KDP Support, select “Amazon Store & Product Detail Page,” then “Update Amazon Categories,” and fill in the form. Make sure you include all the categories you want your book listed under and give them the full category path.

read these pages for background

Deborah covers this issue. your ASIN is 1952439388

Have you ever noticed that some books seem to be in lots of Amazon categories, and not just the two KDP allows you to choose when you publish your book?

[If you’re not even sure about those two, take a look at this article: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login ]

Did you know you can add your book to more categories simply by contacting KDP support? You can have it in up to 10 categories, making it much more likely people will come across it when they search their Amazon site.

Also see You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login ... Amazon Book Categories: An Author’s Essential Guide
What categories is your book in already?
She recommends using BookLinker You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
paste your url there ...i.e. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
I suppose it creates a single link that is useful for international buyers (since there are country specific amazons, I guess)

Open up the front page, click on CATFINDER on the top menu, paste your url (above) and in the book’s details lower down the page), et voila! All the book’s current categories right there for you to see. CATFINDER is directly here You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Kindle books apparently have their own categories

Here’s how to add your books to those extra categories
Go to KDP dashboard and click: HELP (top right)...
see her web page for more instruction

wow. crazy author background.
what's the connection here?

But due to the tragic murder of his crippled father in 1974, Stanthen in his mid-twentiesbecame responsible for his father's estate and took over the role of CEO in his father's business, Columbia Turel (formally Columbia Bookkeeping, Inc.).

Stan assisted in the seven-month murder investigation that led to the arrest and conviction of three individuals, one of whom was his father's business partner at Columbia Bookkeeping. Stan was eventually sued for $5 million in retaliation for that assistance by the convicted murderer, who spent his time in jail perfecting his talent as a jailhouse lawyer.

Bruce
I used a category finder at You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
to search for ASIN 1952439388 in the United States

these are the two categories your book is  currently in, at Amazon

Books » Books » Biographies » True Crime  Sales Rank: 6,397
Books » Books » History » American History » United States History  Sales Rank: 23,451

Now looking at the other in the four book amazon search list I posted
Edwards is ASIN 0764362569
Gray is ASIN 0307451305
Andrade is ASIN 1539694429

Edwards apparently is in just two categories?

Books » Books » Biographies » True Crime  Sales Rank: 394
Books » Books » Engineering & Transportation » Transportation » Aviation » Commercial Aviation  Sales Rank: 12

Andrade is apparently just in one category?
Books » Books » Biographies » True Crime » White Collar Crime True Accounts Sales Rank 250

Gray is in a bunch of categories. Those NY people know how to work the system!

Books » Books » Biographies » Historical Biographies » United States Biographies
Books » Books » Biographies » Professional & Academic Biographies » Aviation & Nautical Biographies  Sales Rank: 21
Books » Books » Biographies » True Crime » Hoaxes & Deceptions
Books » Books » History » American History » United States History
Books » Books » Engineering & Transportation » Transportation » Aviation » Commercial Aviation  Sales Rank: 29
Books » Books » Engineering & Transportation » Transportation » Aviation » Aviation History Sales Rank: 58
Books » Books » Politics & Social Sciences » Social Sciences » Popular Culture in Social Sciences

I looked at Edwards book at CATFINDER for the UK. apparently different categories there?
Books » Books » Reference » Transport References » Aviation References » Commercial Aviation  Sales Rank: 525
Books » Books » Sports, Hobbies & Games  Sales Rank: 95,944

You might consolidate all the different categories these other guys use, and add yourself to their categories
The weird thing is that I thought the sales rank in categories that I reported from the book pages (their rankings) was different than what this lookup finds.

i wonder if this CATFINDER method is not complete, or whether the books were found in categories they weren't listed in by the author.

And see if you can find out about searching for your book from the amazon uk and canada...actually I might do that.
Interesting to see how this all works.

using links/tools on that CATFINDER site

Edwards is #6 in New Releases in Commercial Aviation. The leader is "Flying Blind: The 737 Max Tragedy and the Fall of Boeing"
see You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

New Releases in Aviation & Nautical Biographies is interesting.

Edwards is #24 in New Releases in True Crime

But for Best Sellers in True Crime...you gotta fight with the big boys.

The key to making Cooper bigger is not more details and more math theorems.
It's reaching out to the masses that haven't pondering anything in detail yet, I think.

To me, the cornucopia of Cooper is part of the story - a big part. To me as a journalist, it's a story worth telling.

As for DBC researchers, not so much. We come to this Forum from different places.

In Bradley's case, all he had was a story. Unfortunately, the day we met at the WSHM I was not at my best and I treated him poorly. I wanted a Cooper twenty or the parachute and he didn't have either.  My attitude was quite pissy and he stormed off, never to return.

So some days I lose patience with some of the storytellers.

Heh.
"Business would be great if it wasn't for the damn customers"

I don't remember you being rude to him, Bruce.  He came in with a canned speech and he wouldn't get away from him it.  It was very frustrating.  His wife was with him as his agent.  It was all a show.

I just remember coming in exhausted and not having any patience for him. His wife, Robin, was very sweet, and I enjoyed talking with her. She tried to get Bradley to return, but he was lost in his emotions, apparently.

Truth survives intact, even with non-optimal human interactions.

The thing is, sometimes "truth" doesn't really matter, and it's about helping preserve the humans.
A fine line in the vortex. Who or what gets to survive, flourish, heal?

On Nov. 29th, the Amazon rankings for Bruce's book were

Best Sellers Rank: #437,928 in Books
#5,868 in True Crime (Books)
#20,821 in United States History (Books)

Today the Amazon rankings are almost twice as good...

Best Sellers Rank: #229,878 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)
#3,093 in True Crime (Books)
#9,735 in United States History (Books)

Also, notably, today's the first day I've noticed where when you search in Amazon for
DB Cooper book,
that Bruce's book shows up "above" Gray's Skyjack book.

It's still below both Edwards' book and Edwards' paid ad, but thats all. (well there's another paid ad by Armstrong also)

Amazon search history I think may understand your prior searches, so it's best to open an "incognito" window (in Chrome, say), to get a fresh look at search results at Amazon.
I'm not sure how often they update, I think more than just overnight. But definitely overnight.

Just checked via Chrome. Thanks for the tip, Snow.

When I search for DB Cooper and the FBI 3rd edition, I get the 2nd Edition in paperback and the 3rd Edition in Kindle, both just below Doc Edwards.

When I search for DB Cooper books, I get the 3rd Edition in both paperback and Kindle, and both are placed above Doc Edwards.

Thanks for all the different permutations that you've shown me.

Now, it's off to a site called "Goodreads," which has a program for authors to give away Kindle copies to 100 volunteers to generate reviews. Goodreads is owned by Amazon, I hear, and the issues I'm having registering there are numerous. Sigh.

yeah I noticed that quirk with "DB Cooper and the FBI 3rd edition"
3rd edition really isn't in your title.
using it seems to screw up the search somehow. Dunno

Did you put "DB Cooper and the FBI 3rd edition" as keywords in the amazon listing for that book? I think 3rd edition is probably just not good for keywords/search (since it's not really in your title)

Other interesting searches at Amazon are:
"DB Cooper found"
"DB Cooper solved"

"dbcooper"
"dbcooper book"
(I think I mentioned that before)

Yeah, the publisher neglected to add "3rd Edition" when he registered the book. Supposedly that omission has been corrected.

ah
I notice I'm getting ads from google now when I type "db cooper and the fbi" into google, that point to the amazon.com 3rd edition (also some other sites with the 2nd edition, but the 3rd edition is first)

when I type "db cooper and the fbi 3rd edition" into google, I get bigger ads, with the 3rd edition first (pointing to amazon)

so that all looks better

if instead of the google main search I go to google books and search, it still just has your 2nd edition. Somehow your 3rd edition hasn't been registered with books.google.com

you can see the result with this link, or type "db cooper and the fbi" into books.google.com

I don't know what's happening out there in the Vortex, but looking at Bruce's Amazon ratings right now for his book
Best Sellers Rank: #147,177 in Books
#1,794 in True Crime (Books)
#5,738 in United States History (Books)

I ran the datapoints thru my stock momentum trading AI, and it says Buy. I'm wondering if there is going to be collectible value on the same level as actual Cooper twenty dollar bills.

Is this a limited edition? Can it run out and be not available at some point?

#1794 in True Crime. Hell and you're competing with Trump stories and the Zodiac.

It's a horse race. Edwards with his paid ads is at
Best Sellers Rank: #61,863 in Books
