I recommend Nat's book. His work on the sketches is excellent. I understand that only the Kindle version is available currently, but I hope Nat re-introduces the print version, too.

Paratrooper of Fortune
has a lot of new information on Ted. I scanned it and saw it had a lot of original detail from the SOG guys. Al Tyre, who jumped with Ted and is one of the SOG troopers mentioned, is 100% a believer that Ted in DB. Drew Beeson, the author, is 90%.

Hi Bruce. It's been a while mate. Must admit the Cooper Vortex podcasts have given me a fresh lease of DB Cooper life.

As there isn't a thread for random DBC thoughts (not that I could find anyway) I will post this one here :

While I was walking along listening to a DBC Vortex pod yesterday I considered how cool it would be if someone made one of those montage pictures - you know the ones with the likes of Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Humphrey Bogart and others all together at a bar - that consisted of all the DBC suspects sharing a drink together.

Then I took it a step further and imagined a short video where you see all the DBC suspects arrive at a bar one after another and share quite a few drinks. They introduce themselves and after some short talk chat away about the case. Along the way you see another guy enter the bar sometime after everyone else. By now the others have been there for quite some time, are preoccupied with their conversations and haven't really noticed this other guy until they notice he has gone.

My copy of 'Big Flies' has arrived. Should be a fun read, I suspect. But I have 100 pages of a book to finish first and then I will get into it.

My book, The Man in 18-E, has been re-published under the publisher's new imprint - it's a very light time-travel fiction piece involving the D.B. Cooper case, available in paperback and Kindle. Some people already have it (the reviews of the old imprint are all gone from Amazon, so if you still have them and have time to re-post them, I would be thankful, but no worries if not. Thanks to those who already have done so.) I've already DM'd people who've requested signed copies, but it anyone else would like one please let me know. (Shutter, please tell me if I am posting this in the wrong place and I will move it.)  If you don't need signed, it's cheaper to buy it on Amazon, and I will let you know when the publisher has a promo sale. If you have an older edition with the typos still in but would like a revised copy, also please contact me directly.

Just wondering (asking the question here to try and not piss anyone off), did anyone ever go to Canada or try and find out how many stores in Quebec sold that "only in French" comic book about Dan Cooper?  I am assuming it would only be in Quebec because its the only place French is the main language in North America?  I think that if you add this with the statement he made "negotiable American currency", its a clue.  How can it not be a clue?  Thats all.

I don't think anyone has made a travel for that reason...you might want to look for a comic book store to try and get some answers..

...that "only in French" comic book about Dan Cooper...

You've mentioned that a few times in the last few days, and it has been pointed out that Flyjack has determined that the comic was printed in as many as 16 languages, including 2 variants of Spanish, Spain's and Mexico's. But not in English.

I may search in Quebec, but not knowing French might make it tough,  But I really think it’s worth looking in to and I’m surprised a bigger deal was not made of it back then by FBI.   Thanks

I would think the Canadian search would be we most relevant?  Shutter answered me on the subject also.  I was not aware of the Spanish. Yikes, he did mention Mexico City didn’t he.  Imagine how many comic book stores are there!  I think that would be a wild goose chase.  There are some that believe “there are no such thing as coincidences “.  I’m sure you have heard that,  I do not think the comic is irrelevant

Personally I believe the comic book is a coincidence.

Remember, the tie was purchased at JC Penney which only had stores located in the US back then. Therefore, it appears reasonable to deduce that the tie was purchased in the United States. Couple that with the witnesses noting no particular accent and the crime itself taking place within the United States and I lean toward an American.

Sorry but I have to ask this.  If you combine the fact that this character name is Dan Cooper? And the statement that he demanded “negotiable American currency”, and consider the exchange in 1971.  I have relatives in Canada 🍁 I used to visit.  Back then $100 in American would fetch you approximately $120 or better in Canadian.  Another motive perhaps ?  I just believe there could be a relationship.  And Canadians were flocking here to buy goods to avoid the sin tax there.  They did tons of shopping here.

The phrase "negotiable American currency" would be odd for anyone to say, even a Canadian.

That said, I do not believe he said that phrase. In fact, it has also been stated that Cooper asked for "circulated American currency" which makes a lot more sense. Therefore, I'm inclined to believe his request was for American money that was used.

He wanted small bills obviously not to draw attention.  But the very large exchange could have helped him launder the money in Canada perhaps without hurting his take?  And the name Dan Cooper and the fact he was a parachute jumper is tough to just brush off don’t you think?  I know I am not alone on this at least being worth a look on a half century old cold case if you will.  At least to the cops it’s cold
Just in case DB is still out there and in his 90s, I hope he leaves a diary or journal with some other f the money, in case it’s ever found

In actuality he did not request a particular denomination.
